18/4/2019 19:42 | ChrisC Totally agree, when the wheel was invented, it was not THAT the wheel had been invented it was how it could be utilized, do the benefits of implementation outweigh the current technology, how practically vast its uses could be and how does it benefit me (the king) instead of my competitors. (And how can it be used against me, if I do not utilise it) Sorry about the Medieval Metaphor!! GL | paulcon1
18/4/2019 19:09 | A lot of words, sorry guys. | nickb
18/4/2019 19:08 | However all the above is just too much for a small company like ours to make a success of. It needs a tech / media giant to exploit it we cannot do it alone. Hence we need to get acquired at a price that reflects our technology investment IMHO | nickb
18/4/2019 18:58 | Mcsean Hello hope you are good. ‘The video editor on my huawei honor 10 allows me to do that. I can add slow motion etc. and share on Snapchat etc.’ But if you went to a sports site and wanted to share a a 30 second part out of a 45 min first half match video you cannot do that and even if you could you would make a new video file that Snapchat would have to host. Blackbird Viewer does not need to make new video files that have to be stored. Now with millions of people on social media making clips that’s a huge reduction in workload on for example the Snapchat infrastructure I hope you would agree. Plus with our system the rights owner of the sport retains complete control Which is Very important and valuable. This new Blackbird Viewer (needs a cool consumer name?) is an interesting prospect technically but it is speculative that we can get it adopted. | nickb
18/4/2019 18:47 | Chris I personally don’t buy the it saves money selling point even though it might. Perhaps one way of looking at it is that the industry is changing beyond recognition due to the arrival of internet video OT Video, targeted Sports Video, Gaming Video, Social Media Video it’s all exploding so I’d say this THE OLD TOOLS AND WAYS OF WORKING JUST CANNOT COPE ANYMORE Cloud working is the only solution to the problem that is getting worse. Yesterday’s technology was not designed for this new very fast world of workflow in CERTAIN new sectors. (Old tools are great in very slow high end traditional work (major dramas, documentary etc) The industry has to adopt Cloud or they cannot compete in new growth markets. BBC was once the class technical leader on the global stage it’s now a nothing I can show you a YouTuber who has vastly better video kit than the BBC has, things are so changing. Cloud will happen in this industry, no choice But it’s not about us saving money but enabling companies to even compete. | nickb
18/4/2019 18:28 | So since it’s Easter I have taken everyone off filter, should be informative to see what the mood is. | nickb
18/4/2019 18:06 | Good reply. Thanks Nick | invest360
18/4/2019 18:03 | Has IM stopped Cowboy Boot Friday yet? | geheimnis2
18/4/2019 17:39 | But can any of you make say a best part highlight 30 second clip out of a 3min Video and share it? The video editor on my huawei honor 10 allows me to do that. I can add slow motion etc. and share on Snapchat etc. | mcsean2164
18/4/2019 17:25 | Anyway have a great Easter🐣 | nickb
18/4/2019 17:20 | The above does not consider our new BLACKBIRD VIEWER That’s aiming for mass adoption. Sure success may be a blue sky investment long shot. But can any of you make say a best part highlight 30 second clip out of a 3min Video and share it? And can it be done at mass scale of thousands of people doing something similar to the same video all without making thousands of new video files? If you owned the video rights are you able to remove shared and copies of your video with one delete? Change your Video after it has been copied and shared? All very unique to the Blackbird Viewer It’s an interesting proposal to the social video market. Who would want that? | nickb
18/4/2019 17:11 | Invest Cloud video is exploding or certainly growing massively now. But Cloud Video needs to be split into say segments, different segments will move to the Cloud at different times with different companies enabling this. Our segment the Video post/ editing segment is now looking to adopt Cloud to join with the other parts of the Video workflow. So we are not losing out to anyone it’s that only now the industry is ready to consider solutions to the problem of the segment we represent. Our time has come to be considered. We are the only player with True Cloud Native Video Editing and frame accurate viewing. The competition is old software running on virtual machines in the Cloud So it’s place your bets time that we have the best way of doing Cloud Video work using Cloud technology. Everything to play for as we wait for decisions to be made on how the industry will proceed. | nickb
18/4/2019 16:33 | I would hope Nick is filtering me. | bonio10000
18/4/2019 16:14 | Does anyone know why blackbird was selected as a brand name? | mcsean2164
18/4/2019 16:12 | P.S. It's Bonio's Q. Just that I think you're filtering him ... | invest360
18/4/2019 16:11 | the market is exploding, but FBT is clearly not getting a share. So who is getting all this work?” And more broadly, are they currently beating us to the cheese and, in your opinion based on their current offering, is it likely that they will set the direction of travel such that FBT will find it difficult to get a look in? After all, as Bonio says, everyone is talking about the power of cloud video so someone must be providing the impressive solutions - with little (public) talk of Balckbird… | invest360
18/4/2019 13:28 | AIMSTER Good question and yes I do although I am not sharing what it is. If I did not believe in what is trying to be achieved with Blackbird like unfortunately a lot of shareholders here then I would Sell no problem. Investing needs the right mindset and these types of investments totally needs a leap of faith. As some of the long timers here will confirm I started out being highly sceptical of the technology so to get won over by it and then some I see no evidence to say the technology is not truly ‘magicalԅ These are exciting times in Cloud video we are at the beginning of a revolution so I just don’t buy the depression of shareholder sentiment although I do have the frustration. I’ll let you know if/when I change my investment position. I hope that answers your question. | nickb
18/4/2019 12:01 | How is Avid's cloud offering going? We keep getting told the market is exploding, but FBT is clearly not getting a share. So who is getting all this work? | bonio10000
18/4/2019 11:57 | Hi NickGenuine question, please don't take it the wrong way. Do you have a time limit on your optimism? | aimster4400
18/4/2019 11:55 | Chris Those Sports Platforms have added huge technical value to the Blackbird platform by being early adopters and development of our Sports workflow, tremendous examples and testimonials to take to the industry as a whole. The more we get adopted the easier the sales will become very few companies like to be first to adopt new technologies they follow. NAB was a good chance to show off our work with these companies so it’s not just the contract value we receive. Remember NAB is a community and the best sales people are your customers. | nickb
18/4/2019 11:11 | Chriscallen Well, the sports providers would soon have the choice to pay more or go back to other ways of working. Seems like it is time that we called the bluff on some of these firms and upped the invoices or, as you say, walked away. | bonio10000
18/4/2019 11:10 | It's fine. Bentley has stepped up. Not once in 3 years did he appear to challenge Main from his role at NED - but he will now revolutionise the business. Clearly Main couldn't bring himself to walk away from a nice £25k p.a. for a monthly board meeting. | bonio10000
18/4/2019 11:05 | I wonder what would happen if FBT said they were going to discontinue Sports as it was loss making? £250K seems like peanuts and they cannot get the quality anywhere else if our own PR is to be believed. | chriscallen
18/4/2019 10:51 | Agree, it is concerning.... The BS is now tedious and unhelpful.. After NAB there does not seem one independent tech review or one hint or excitement about the product or company.. Pity!! GLA | paulcon1 |
