The problem is, magic isn't real. So, how is it actually done and if Blackbird can do it, when will the boffins at Amazon or Google find a way of doing it?

That's a little unfair.
If the ceo of Ocado was asked how the warehouse stock-picking system managed to correctly pick 6 million items a day from an array of seven thousand line items, you wouldn't mind him saying that it's a bit like magic and he'll have to get his logistics director to answer that.

Interviewer talks of compression issues and says "How have you solved this problem?"

IM : As I said, it's in the magic of the codec, it's because this codec was designed by my business partner in the company from the ground up in the cloud. If you want me to get deep into the code you've the wrong person but I would love...

And that my friends is why Blackbird is failing. The CTO cannot communicate to the CEO what the magic is or perhaps IM ccanot understand. IM cannot tell us anything about the codec. Think about that. After 1.5 years, he cannot tell us anything at all about the codec except magic.

"So is that capability worth big money or what?"

Possibly, but only if...

1. It's rock solid reliable.
2. Others can't emulate it.
3. There's a big enough market for it.
4. The market knows about it.
5. The company knows how to price/market it.
6. The company has enough capital to exploit it.

IM said in the course of his interview:
"We are also showing our player. We are at content creation software at the moment but this codec is as I say magical and you can envisage how we can move from consecration to content distribution. So we have a prototype player that we're showing in the show. This player has much more functionality than other players you've seen for the end user. It's fantastic. For the content owner for the rights holder. It also allows you to insert advertising. For the user to clip and share content for the right owner to insert advertising on the fly but also when that rights package comes to an end to flick the switch in one location or one cloud. And all the videos around the world that it has been shared with will disappear. So it's complete control for the right owner."

I think im should have a better explanation of why the codec is good besides "magic". It's sounds exciting but if he can't explain the codec after 1.5 years...

Well, we've dropped from £0.0855 to £0.0638 since the start of the year (Jan 2nd).

That's about 25%.

I think the honeymoon is over for IM. I can't really understand why they don't sell to big tech, is it that they are too proud? The sales to industry are appalling on a level that is incomprehensible. If I showed FBT's actual figures to any investor and used them as projected figures, I don't think there is an investor in the world that would participate.

We are in the middle of one of the greatest bull runs with lots of loose money, what is IM doing?

Lots of NAB Buzz around Cloud in the Post community Avid Adobe and DaVinci users

Unfortunately they are talking about BeBop Technology and Frame.io

I suspect they haven’t even heard about us!

Marketing failure? Lack of general awareness about Blackbird.

I suppose it could be argued we are chasing Enterprise Customers nevertheless very disappointing.

Still everyone seems excited by Cloud at long last.

2 guys at NAB getting excited about editing in the Cloud

Exciting times yes but they don’t know about us!
(Yet they are from a leading influential industry news website)

Anyway worth a watch but FBT need a kick, get them invited to a demo ffs.

At least we now know that the new quicker platform will open the floodgates.

After all, I'm sure the fact they couldn't sell was purely down to the speed of editing.

I would suggest 'the meaning of life' or alternatively 'the process of the forming of all life expressed in a mathematical formula' is 1.6180 or the 'Golden Ratio' or the 'Divine Proportion'

NAB is the most important show for this industry (it’s so influential and sets the direction of travel) it’s perhaps wrong just to see it as a typical trade show.
FBT has to attend otherwise the shares are a strong sell as far as I’m concerned.

The who’s who of the industry attends the show and if they are looking to go Cloud they will be visiting Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and IBM.

Now if we don’t achieve a dramatic sales increase over the next 12 months then we never will so we are at an important time since our technology is now developed and very much ready for a wider adoption and importantly the market is finally ready to adopt Cloud

It would be simply crazy not to attend
Imho
