22/2/2017 09:41 | Keep hearing the silver price is going to either take-off upwards after the upcoming options expiry on the basis of there being a massive short squeeze imminent, but heard this so many times it may just as likely head the other way, but the relative strength to the strong dollar, potential rate hikes suggests there is real potential foe. Silver! | bookbroker
20/2/2017 08:57 | ah - looking again - you mention 'the original reaction was the correct one' -my apologies | emeraldzebra
20/2/2017 08:56 | thanks Topicel. a v good insight as ever. However - and as i said i only recently got involved here, but immediately following Trump's win - looking at the chart, the price of fres (and Rangold) SOARED which seems to go against what you mention above ? It only started to tank quite a bit later on.....why this happened ---- i am not quite sure ! | emeraldzebra
18/2/2017 17:47 | this cheap and i bought more of it sub 1500 | dt1010
17/2/2017 11:04 | My opinion remains the same that the original reaction to Trump's win was the correct one, and just as with Brexit it was not in the interests of vested interests so all bets were quickly re-adjusted. Gold and silver were hammered, and so were the prices of miners like Fres and HOC. They dropped fast, and, as is the case, many were caught by stops and scared by the turmoil. The next recovery stage takes longer, and of course the big players are playing it both ends and picking back up all those stopped shares, and have been since the turn of the year. The same happened with Barclays etc. following Brexit with overnight collapse from 190p to 130p and then, slowly but surely, we see them recover and today stand at 230p+... The consolidation periods will be shorter and shorter, as at HOC, but more importantly I look forward to Tuesday week and the FY 2016 figures and dividend announcement. Wages in Mexico will be dirt cheap since Trump, and the cash generated will have been massive. Fresnillo has a recent history of paying a solid exceptional dividend in good years, and it is that which will trigger the next re-rate IMHO. Notwithstanding the continuing push upwards of PMs because it is sensible insurance against White House press conferences and European politics! Topicel | topicel
17/2/2017 10:13 | Looks like it's moving back up with rising PM prices....... | goldenshare888
17/2/2017 09:24 | Consolidation occurring, if PM's likely to trend higher this will be reflected here, but it looks for now the SMA's are catching up with the price! | bookbroker
17/2/2017 09:23 | Consolidation occurring, if PM's likely to trend higher this will be reflected here, but it looks for now the SMA's are catching up with the price! | bookbroker
17/2/2017 08:55 | my v amateurish opinion for what it's worth - i think in the short to medium term the sp's of this one and obvious others will be much more influenced by political upheaval rather than conventional regard to changes in production, and demand/supply concerns....and too much chart watching. Thus with Trumpy's stubby finger no doubt flirting with the nuclear button, and his v loud mouth - i continue to be optimistic here ! | emeraldzebra
17/2/2017 07:56 | Reckon we're due a decent pullback here for a bit, had a good run. Sold up my fres hoc and cey wednesday close... | dmitribollokov

16/2/2017 12:40 | FRES making a triple bottom on the 4h chart, double bottom on 1d. Silver price holding above $18 surely Fres cannot break lower on a rising silver price? | breaktwister
16/2/2017 11:03 | I assume that when the 50 day moves over the 100 day to cross back up would be deemed a golden cross, although it is more often used in the 200day MA! But this is weak today relative to price of silver, may be it is checking to touch back on 20 day MA, hope fully onwards and upwards from there! | bookbroker
16/2/2017 11:01 | Adding at this price with silver holding $18 | breaktwister
16/2/2017 09:24 | Like to see these make a push up, the silver price currently strong, but so is the dollar, don't know how Trump will get his way to weaken the dollar and make the US great again, they will just be more and more inward, it's time the citizens of the world railed at the likes of Amazon, Apple, etc, not making the world a better place, we will all eventually be enslavened to their cause! | bookbroker
13/2/2017 09:33 | many thanks Topicel and to you all. Interesting times. | emeraldzebra
12/2/2017 13:26 | Hehehe golden yes, not sure of where they'll end up but certInly at many multiples of where they are now. This is excellent analysis of silver's price direction too: | dt1010
11/2/2017 11:32 | Excellent article DT, I concur 100%! FRES - £100 - £150 ? HOC - £15 - £30 ? :)) | goldenshare888
10/2/2017 21:55 | More than potential emeraldzebra, solar panel 'farms' are now being targeted for their silver! Forget the lead in the church roof... China in particular has huge solar farm ambitions to reduce smog. And they're buying big, as you can imagine. Topicel | topicel
10/2/2017 20:02 | definitive article on why to own gold and silver stocks and PMs. | dt1010
