24/7/2024 08:56 | saadia, yes the gap up on 22/7 could have in theory become a breakaway. Another point is to check the gaps on several different charts. Some use direct last price based inputs to form the daily candle shape, whereas others such as advfn uses mid-price based input data. Some advfn charts even exclude the first few minutes of trading data completely to avoid documenting wild swings in the spread. | bamboo2
24/7/2024 08:49 | As chris Mills said his recent interview trading is a mugs game.. If you want to make decent money, buy a decent company and stick with it for 10 years plus.. | igoe104
24/7/2024 08:42 | Interesting. Should the 22/7 gap not be a breakaway gap as it was in response to a trading update with lots of new news? | saadia110
24/7/2024 08:35 | Hi Apad, from a technical charting pov gaps are of interest in that more often than not, sooner or later they get filled. Some people see them working like magnets, an invisible force not to be taken lightly! The only gaps that seem to remain unfilled are those that are created in response to important news or fundamental events. These are often called breakaway gaps and are a bridge between the real world and the world of TA. Breakaway's can become areas of future support, as price and the market are often inclined to test the validity of a breakout, and its associated cause. It's good this one is filled. I will look at BVXP and report back at base! [post edited for clarity] | bamboo2
24/7/2024 08:21 | bamboo, is that TA speak for 'it went up and now it is back again', or am I missing an implication? What do you think of the BVXP bowl? apad | apad

24/7/2024 07:33 | I know markets are rubbish currently, but still disappointing response to trading update on Monday. | johndoe23
23/7/2024 15:01 | Very conservative numbers, so easily beaten I suppose. Would be hoping for around 11.5p | johndoe23
23/7/2024 11:47 | Genuine question...why would Cavendish forecast less than 3% earnings growth (from 10.3 to 10.6p)for the current financial year ? Have I missed something ? | maiken
23/7/2024 08:01 | Cheers - here's a link, though subscriber-only: | rivaldo
22/7/2024 12:15 | Covered in Investors Chronicle at lunchtime today... "Fonix’s earnings upgrade cycle is far from over Mobile payment group delivers record annual results could boost its dividend" July 22, 2024 by Simon Thompson "Profits ahead of market expectations Upgrades to both 2024 and 2025 forecasts." "Mobile payment technology group Fonix Mobile (FNX:261p) has announced a robust pre-close trading update ahead of annual results on 24 September 2024. Buoyed by 17 per cent forecast growth in full-year revenue to £76mn, gross profit and cash profit have increased by 18 per cent to £17.9mn and £13.7mn, respectively. House broker Cavendish pushed through mid-single digit earnings upgrades and now expects full-year pre-tax profits to rise 23 per cent to £13.6mn and earnings per share (EPS) to increase 16 per cent to 10.3p. Moreover, Fonix’s cash generation is better than anticipated, prompting analysts to raise their free cash flow (FCF) estimates by £0.5mn to £9.7mn (9.8p), implying an FCF yield of 3.8 per cent. The strong cash generation supports a policy of paying out three-quarters of net profit as dividends, so shareholders can expect a raised payout of 7.8p per share. Underpinned by the combination of ongoing strong cash generation as well as single-digit upgrades to earnings forecasts for the 2024-25 financial year, Cavendish expects the dividend per share to be hiked again to 8.5p and covered by EPS of 10.6p. On this basis, the shares offer a prospective dividend yield of 3.3 per cent and are rated on a forward price/earnings (PE) ratio of 24.5." | lammylover

22/7/2024 06:32 | Yep, great update - ahead of expectations once again. As usual, terrific cash inflows and the promise of a nice divi to come. This reads rather promisingly in particular: "Looking ahead, we are making steady progress on our plans to enter a new territory in mainland Europe, with several TV and radio broadcasters lined up to trial services once we launch in the region. We are optimistic about starting to transact in this new market during FY25 and we hope to be able to give further details at the full results in September." And a very bullish outlook: "Outlook: The Board remains confident in Fonix's growth potential for FY25 and beyond, supported by high levels of recurring revenue with a strong run-rate, an expanded commercial offering, and significant opportunities for further international expansion." | rivaldo

16/7/2024 14:34 | A final shakeout of any loose, cheap shares....then move it back up, ready for the full year, trade update.. | lammylover
16/7/2024 11:28 | Each to their own but it always baffles me why people sell when an update is imminent | johndoe23
15/7/2024 13:42 | I can't see a firm date either. It was the 20th and the 21st in the last two years. Maybe next Monday morning the 22nd. FNX haven't put a foot wrong since listing and the share price has risen steadily, with the usual short-term ups and downs. The share price has consolidated for a while so hopefully any good news will spark a new uptrend. | rivaldo
11/7/2024 14:58 | The full year trade update should be due soon - last year was 20th July, so I'm guessing around Thursday 18th July.. - Can't find a firm date, unless anyone has seen it published?? | lammylover
11/7/2024 13:59 | 241.1 to sell. Should be ticking up | johndoe23
10/7/2024 10:21 | Another partnership. Could be a opportunity to expand into Germany. | igoe104 |
