Covered in Investors Chronicle at lunchtime today...

"Fonix’s earnings upgrade cycle is far from over

Mobile payment group delivers record annual results could boost its dividend"

July 22, 2024 by Simon Thompson

"Profits ahead of market expectations

Upgrades to both 2024 and 2025 forecasts."

"Mobile payment technology group Fonix Mobile (FNX:261p) has announced a robust pre-close trading update ahead of annual results on 24 September 2024.

Buoyed by 17 per cent forecast growth in full-year revenue to £76mn, gross profit and cash profit have increased by 18 per cent to £17.9mn and £13.7mn, respectively. House broker Cavendish pushed through mid-single digit earnings upgrades and now expects full-year pre-tax profits to rise 23 per cent to £13.6mn and earnings per share (EPS) to increase 16 per cent to 10.3p.

Moreover, Fonix’s cash generation is better than anticipated, prompting analysts to raise their free cash flow (FCF) estimates by £0.5mn to £9.7mn (9.8p), implying an FCF yield of 3.8 per cent. The strong cash generation supports a policy of paying out three-quarters of net profit as dividends, so shareholders can expect a raised payout of 7.8p per share. Underpinned by the combination of ongoing strong cash generation as well as single-digit upgrades to earnings forecasts for the 2024-25 financial year, Cavendish expects the dividend per share to be hiked again to 8.5p and covered by EPS of 10.6p. On this basis, the shares offer a prospective dividend yield of 3.3 per cent and are rated on a forward price/earnings (PE) ratio of 24.5."

Asagi, long time since speaking with you.

If there is not too much dissent from others here, please could you add these charts to the header? [Let me know if you need help with the relevant html code, although from what I remember you probably don't!]

Yep, great update - ahead of expectations once again.

As usual, terrific cash inflows and the promise of a nice divi to come.

This reads rather promisingly in particular:

"Looking ahead, we are making steady progress on our plans to enter a new territory in mainland Europe, with several TV and radio broadcasters lined up to trial services once we launch in the region. We are optimistic about starting to transact in this new market during FY25 and we hope to be able to give further details at the full results in September."

And a very bullish outlook:

"Outlook:

The Board remains confident in Fonix's growth potential for FY25 and beyond, supported by high levels of recurring revenue with a strong run-rate, an expanded commercial offering, and significant opportunities for further international expansion."

I can't see a firm date either. It was the 20th and the 21st in the last two years. Maybe next Monday morning the 22nd.

FNX haven't put a foot wrong since listing and the share price has risen steadily, with the usual short-term ups and downs. The share price has consolidated for a while so hopefully any good news will spark a new uptrend.

New article confirming FNX's involvement with Soccer ("Football"!) Aid - nice summary paragraph below:

"The campaign has come a long way since Fonix started working with the team in 2018. From an initial simple text donation service, Fonix now provides operational project management, multiple SMS donation price points, a Text-to-Win donation competition, a multi-donation channel Totaliser to ensure all donations, including match-funding, are reported accurately and for the first time this year, all online donations.

The online donations platform allowed the audience to donate via card and PayPal, and as a first for Soccer Aid also via Apple Pay and Google Pay.

A very high profile win just announced by FNX:

"Once.net partners with Fonix across the UK and Ireland for Eurovision 2024
17/05/2024

Eurovision 2024 again showed that it isn’t just a music competition; it’s a cultural phenomenon that brings together nations, artists and fans from across Europe and beyond. After some fantastic performances, the results were counted and voters from all around the world came together to award the Swiss artist Nemo’s song ‘The Code’, the winning performance.

While the acts are the main focus, one aspect often piques curiosity – the intricate voting system, orchestrated by Once.net.

Once.net has been the official voting partner of the European Broadcasting Union for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004. Each year, the company works with multiple telecoms and service providers to collect and count the votes during the live semi-final and grand final shows. This year, Once.net selected Fonix to manage the IVR and SMS voting across two territories – the UK and Ireland.

Once.net had the complex task of running Eurovision voting for the whole event. It’s a huge responsibility as the vote combines judges’ votes from 37 countries and a mix of IVR, SMS, and paid online voting from the viewers from anywhere in the world. These scores are then combined to determine the final outcome within 10 minutes of the final performance.

Stephen George, Fonix’s Partnerships Director commented, “It’s been fantastic supporting Once.net in both the UK and Ireland at Eurovision this year. They have been fantastic to work with throughout this campaign. A lot of hard work has gone into making sure multiple voting methods worked seamlessly across the territories, and it’s hugely rewarding when the event is such a success.”

Thomas Niedermeyer, Managing Director of Once.net, added, “Fonix has been instrumental to the successful voting at Eurovision 2024 in Ireland and the UK. Their smooth integration of SMS and IVR solutions, their dedication and commitment to the event ensured the best possible audience experience, so crucial for the success of the event. Our hardworking team at Once.net makes for a great partnership with Fonix.”
