AIB is worth a look after Friday's breakout. Results are next week, I think, and much is expected of them. All the liquidity is in Dublin, so 500k+ in London is an exceptional day.

DYOR and all that.......but worth a short term trade IMHO.

slipperx- ADVFN Data always is like this - and I've sent a good few mails to try and get it changed. The "Archive Data" only becomes available at 6:30 the following morning and the following morning is a Monday for Friday's prices. A real pain.

Thought I would add my thanks to you Croc for your work on this BB and keeping us all informed. I recognise it takes a lot of hard work and hours to get this together consistently early in the morning. SO thank you - and to Parrett for last week togetgher with his offer of helping you out as and when necessary.

Will be short CKSN today after opening confirmation.

Lacking Data from ADVFN today for some reason - although I downloaded it OK at home last night - now both Office computers load data page which shows Friday's data but if you highlight the link you will see it referring to data for 15 November not 16 November and if you try to download by entering dates you get a 0 Bytes file. Anyone else ever get this difficulty. Have tried deleting temporary files and cache but still same.

People will be buying at Xmas - don't worry about that - how many times have we heard all this before - we have very low interest rates which will give people a good reason to borrow a few hundred quid to have a good time amongst all the doom and gloom around. I am heavily in the retail sector in my longer term portfolio expecting a seasonal upsurge as normal. Watch Clinton Cards - has dropped recently and is very oversold - it will recover back to 180 before Xmas imho. Watch spread and volume though.

I am a bit concerned about this week and the day off in the US. Am busy most of this week and can't watch the markets much, but don't want to go long.

All I can say is I feel very uneasy about this market,possibly not going to be able to monitor the market most of the time for the first few days of the week so will probably not trade monday.

must say,just quickly gone thru set stocks and it looks like theres alot of potential tops at the moment - iii,ags are the first two that came up(alphabetically).

Took the kids shopping this afternoon .. didn't see too many signs of a slowdown, to the contrary, I've never seen the place so busy. Not sure now if I believe the consumer confidence projections and I'm expecting a positive run up to XMas. No shorts open with several long positions in techs still open.

What affect will there be on the market with thanksgiving being this coming thursday.
Many will be making it a very long weekend commencing Tuesday, more driving rather than flying so this will mean more making a longer holiday. Could last fridays action be a precursor to this holiday and the start of a small sell off?and then if no bad news a restart of the bull tendency next monday week.
When I was involved in the commodity market this week was always a book squaring week.

I shorted TWOD on Friday afternoon and made a few bob, unfortunately I closed the position before the close of trade. For the last 10 days there has been a determined effort to force the price up so I am not suprised to hear that bad news is in the air. I expect it to retest it's 140/150p range tomorrow.

Croc- WIth XMAS roudn the corner I will be returning to the UK where I hope I can repay your efforts with a drink or two.

TWOD - Last week was trading between £1.50 - £1.60 but -ve weekend comments about its St CAtherines Dock disposal should push this lower. Croc I know you trade this one two any opinions?

Hi everyone,

I've taken a 6 month contract with RSA in Liverpool and have no internet access. I miss the traders thread and have to catch up at the weekends.

I didn't get the chance to thank everyone on this thread for the words of wisdom they post.

A special thanks to croc, dodddy, matthewa and byrdsong for the tips that made me a tidy sum.

I'll be back in May.

Thanks R, very much appreciated thoughts but I trade full time for a living so I do find the exercise helps me to clarify my own strategy for the day's trading.

as you said looking to buy this week but still have one or two shorts to look at.yes i know i said i would be a bull, but trade what you see.

Croc I echo your words ref. Parratt standing in last week, looks as always an easy job setting things up- but I recognise otherwise. But it is nice to have the charts, I find these useful, particularly the Dow. Also helpful to me those traders who post early morning IG /City index expectations. many thanks
