05/3/2008 10:04 | Oh great sage. Tell me at what price FKI will accept a bid? M | milacs
05/3/2008 09:49 | There it is! I seen this yesterday! Look at my post 504. | jsmith10
05/3/2008 09:16 | if bid 80p, but 40p is paper, not is money. now 76p, so should sell, take true money. | hmkwan
05/3/2008 08:55 | Yes, obviously we need to keep an eye on the Melrose share price given the paper element of the proposal. Nonetheless I don't think this deal gets done on this basis and would hope for an "all cash" counter from private equity. That said it is "hope" rather than belief and my true guess is that all bets will be off and we'll be back in the 60s. | konkel
05/3/2008 07:29 | Melrose - conditional offer - 40p Cash + c.40p in MRO stock - hardly generous & perhaps not good enough. | skyship
04/3/2008 13:39 | Theres also a rumour on www.traderbanter.com about a new bid at 80p this morning. Was also on ft I believe? | jsmith10
02/3/2008 16:53 | Mail MARKET REPORT: William Morrison (revived speculation that founder and chairman Sir Ken Morrison will sell his and the family stake before the punitive change in capital gains tax in early April), Cable & Wireless (investors take profits ahead of Tuesday's investors day on its Europe, Asia and US divisions), FKI (talk that Blackstone will soon blow the 70 pence-a-share bid from Melrose Resources out of the water), | csmwssk1
28/2/2008 14:49 | Bother ....missed a great opportunity to get back in this morning. Price movement smacks to me of a bid @ c.80p | skyship
28/2/2008 09:30 | This deal will not get done at 70p....there will either be a counter offer or, more likely, it will simply lapse. | konkel
26/2/2008 09:57 | lol...u cud b right at muttering to yurself :) | badtime
26/2/2008 09:51 | at the risk of talking to meself , well through 70p allbeit low volumes , quite a spike | scrapman
25/2/2008 09:19 | well below the 70p level , no volume , is it a done deal , ??? or game over for hopes of an alternative bid | scrapman
20/2/2008 10:06 | back to drifting , any one bothering to count the ept disclosures from all the various banks ?? | scrapman
20/2/2008 10:04 | oh well we are in together cause i have both to! | csmwssk1
20/2/2008 07:29 | CSMWSSK1, owning bank stock scares me as you are dealing with huge effective gearing, so I generally avoid. I also find it very difficult to work through the numbers to arrive at a what I feel is a fair valuation. Notwithstanding that though, I did top up on BB. as the foreward PE's and yield (in particular) are so attractive. | wilkie_hk
19/2/2008 15:15 | bradford and bingley, a and l, barclays, rbs, hbos... | csmwssk1
15/2/2008 10:19 | Why sell when sentiment, because that's what has caused the price depression, is low? FKI have been tarnished with the American housing market brush, when this is only a very secondary division of the 4 that make up the business. Yes, debt is high, but the future earnings cover this many times over. Even with the 40% recovery in share price the forecast numbers are as follows, with very significant future orders in the companies most significant divisions: Year Ending Revenue (£m) Pre-tax (£m) EPS P/E PEG EPS Grth. Div Yield 31-Mar-08 1,356.88 78.43 9.80p 7.2 0.6 +13% 4.60p 6.3% 31-Mar-09 1,396.85 85.32 10.67p 6.6 0.7 +9% 4.81p 6.6% 31-Mar-10 1,344.68 88.85 11.12p 6.4 1.5 +4% 4.50p 6.2% Find me another company with such a strong foreward order book with foreward PE's in the 6's and I will buy in. | wilkie_hk
15/2/2008 09:55 | well thats all very well but the management told them that at 130p and it hasnt done any good for shareholders I am not interested in the REAL value of the shares/company I am interested in what I pay for them and what I sell them for! the management have themselves to consider(as is very evident) and so do the staff shareholders have different considerations! | crazy russian
15/2/2008 08:22 | Management tell them where to go, I would strongly suggest - cheeky bu@@ers, trying to get this on the cheap! The penny will eventually drop that Hardware accounts for only 13% of turnover, so the exposure to the housing market in the States is not that significant. | wilkie_hk
14/2/2008 14:48 | Back to 70p now , looks like the word is out there must be no other interest, and Melrose are going to get a bargain, or the management tell them where to go | scrapman
14/2/2008 11:16 | slow morning volume wise , few barmy sell orders in at 85 and 95p . no press coverage anywhere ?? | scrapman
13/2/2008 08:46 | bit of a markdown this morning , low volumes , suspect (hope ) its just the market trying to weed a few cheap shares , Perhaps we should run a side sweepstake on how long after the order book reacts , before the news becomes public ( wheather confirmation or otherwise re bid ) | scrapman
12/2/2008 09:44 | someone seems happy to soak up whatever is available at 73. | kallista
12/2/2008 09:39 | looks like the troops are lining up at 73 to 73.25 , mm's are moving down the offer at 74 ,all awaiting the next move | scrapman
11/2/2008 12:56 | bit of a wierd order book , 455k on the bid at 69.5 , | scrapman |
