Yes and the beauty of the whole thing for the counter-bidder is that, if the due diligence result gets the green light, then melrose will have done all the necessary work and de-risked the mooted attempt on behalf of it's competitor.

What about the rumours of a counter bid higher up? We read about private finance at £1.00 this announcement from Melrose should rattle a few cages.

The fact that Melrose's share price rose in the last 10 days or so says to me that the market will take a rights issue from them.

Looks like Melrose are still very much interested in FKI.



In addition there is still a possibility of a bid from Blackstone.

looks like this is beggining to fade , low activity , either moving into the end game for melrose , or they are going to leave , certainly little hope of a counterbid

I sold on 3rd Feb and the share hasn't moved that much since.(See my post 457)You have to be worried that the share price will drop to pre approach levels and perhaps lower,if Melrose walk away.One thing that distracts Directors most from the day to day running of a company is being on the end of a bid approach.

It could be that someone has got info that Melrose are going to walk away, so there would be no need for a rights issue, taking the pressure of the Melrose share price but taking down FKI's.

Melrose share price has jumped in last hour, yet FKI has headed the opposite way. I will keep watching as this sounds like something is happening.

Also Standard life sold part of FKI and bought into MRO.
