04/1/2008 23:33 | No idea bearstalker. I've looked the charts and we are now at a 10 year low. We've fallen off the bottom and we are in uncharted waters. Somebody must think that this is going bust. Thankfully I don't hold at present, but I hope to be around to fill up when this finally turns. | lord gnome
04/1/2008 17:37 | Where's bottom now? Looks like we haven't reached capitulation yet. Anyone know the next resistance level? IMHO | bearstalker
03/1/2008 12:15 | good spot prokartace, thanks | mr.oz
03/1/2008 08:41 | Someone likes FKI: 0823 GMT [Dow Jones] Investec Securities upgrades FKI (FKI.LN) to buy from hold. Reckons FKI isn't for the faint-hearted given its recent run of disappointing newsflow and growing challenges of the macro economy. "However, our more positive tack reflects the lowly valuation versus its industrial peers and historic norms." Adds that buy case is also premised on investors shifting focus to strengths and value of Lifting Products and Energy Technology rather than dwelling on disappointments of Hardware and Logistex, whilst factoring-in concerns on debt profile, cash generation and dividend yield. Has 84p price target. Shares +0.9% at 59p. (TRF) | prokartace
02/1/2008 22:40 | Yes , and we'll all be watchin when they predict the top again ! Good Luck all | mr.oz
02/1/2008 22:34 | I see from the news that Newton Investment Management have increased their stake again. According to Sharecrazy.com, they did hold over 8% in April 2007 but reduced their holdings to under 5% by June 2007 when FKI were well above 100p. They now have gone above 6% by recent purchases. Given their success in selling some of their stake at or near the top for the year, perhaps their recent purchases can be taken as a bullish sign. | alanr1
02/1/2008 18:09 | Cheers aileron - it was looking good for awhile until the Dow clicked into downwards mode. See what you mean about the others royaloak esp TNI - LAD's poss another ( there's quite a few to chose from these days ! ). | bi1l
02/1/2008 10:37 | Bought a small amount this morning, two others in this category are RTO which I have bought and TNI which I am watching. | royaloak
02/1/2008 09:00 | Hi bi1l, Thanks for the input. Well I bought this morning at just under 60p to about £8000. I had been looking over the holidays at a few other companies but I kept coming back to FKI. Im coming off a good buy/sell from NIS and Ive bought this company for all the same reasons! Best wishes for 2008. | aileron
28/12/2007 15:50 | If you want to catch a rise up to the divi you should be looking further rather than shorter. | scars
28/12/2007 15:46 | Ah, Thanks Scars. I guess that would also help the share price rise before Divi-day if shorters close their positions. | stuart14
28/12/2007 15:43 | stu, I believe if you are short, you pay the dividend! | scars
28/12/2007 15:40 | Hello, Im new to this thread so I apologise now for asking any repetative questions, or stupid observations. Ive recently sold my shares in NIS and have been looking around for my next interest. FKI seems to fit the bill so far. The positives for me are: Increasing profits, good dividend, low share price (seems to be at a 5 year low?), out of favour, decent size company making something i can understand. The negatives: Im not overly familiar with the company or the bad news which has obviously affected the share price. I tend to buy into 'unpopular' (out of favour) companies which stand a chance of recovering over a 6-12 month period. What am I looking to achieve? Share price of 75p by mid March, and the dividend. Investing £5,000 to £10,000. Any helpful comments would be welcome. Thank you and happy new year to all. | aileron
28/12/2007 15:06 | Or, could you just short a share the night before Divi day and buck back on the retrace? Something i might have to look into, although finding the time is tough at present | stuart14
28/12/2007 15:01 | The share price normally recedes the amount of the dividend ... but not always. There is a chance of a share price rise into the days prior to the X/D date, when people prefer to have the guarantee , etc ..... good luck whatever | mr.oz
28/12/2007 15:01 | You could try, but usually the day after a divi is paid, the price drops by the amount of the divi. | scars
28/12/2007 14:53 | Couldn't you just make money buying shares in Co's 2 days before they pay their Div and then selling straight after? | stuart14
28/12/2007 14:52 | 2 days from x/d to record date normally this is paid to you thereafter on the 22-Feb-08 DYOR | mr.oz
28/12/2007 14:43 | Hold on. How long do you have to hold shares for to receive the divi? How long do you have tol hold them afterwards? | stuart14
28/12/2007 14:42 | I believe you'd get the 1.5p/share premium of you were long overnight on the 30th. Worth asking your broker. I bought shares on Monday | mr.oz
28/12/2007 14:41 | Stuart you get 80% of the div paid into your account when the share goes ex. Well actually what they do is lower your reval price by 80% of the div before the opening of the day the share goes ex | prokartace
28/12/2007 14:27 | Wouldn't short at these levels. That money has been made by others already. i'm tempted to go long though | stuart14
28/12/2007 14:26 | actually, there is some effect for CFD traders if you hold your trade overnight - so beware if you are short. You will owe the divi. Needs someone more experienced in CFD trading than I. | mr.oz
28/12/2007 14:19 | I'd trade via CFD so wouldn't be eligible unfortunately. | stuart14 |
