Yet another licensing deal on a early stage SHP2 inhibitor.....an oncology target space that looks Red Hot at the moment and so let's hope Evgen can get something going on theirs...in the meantime looking forward to disclosure of the collaboration for the new Solid Tumour target that Huw is so excited about, as well as DSMB's assessment on SFX-01's first 100 patients recruited for the Covid/ARDS trial. Gla :-)

Lol Bumpa....I caught the tail end of the Dot Com bubble, my first foray into share dealing, and lost the lot, and didn't return to online dealing until 2008 ish, in those days they would post a copy of the transaction , and yes, I had a few quid in JellyWorks and PCM ( Pacific Media ) .and a handful of others, online Banks and all sorts and even Ronson, cigarette lighters that rose 100% when they announced their online intentions, and had trebled my investment and more in a matter of a few weeks until the day they all crashed...ha ha ha....a lesson learnt. :-)

Ha, only central heating systems you get here are oil fired or log burning but most don’t bother with them - too expensive to install for the amount of use they get.

Pellet burners are popular here, I use them - lot less mess than logs.


BTC? Well one well known bank had a $146k target for it this week I think. A lot of the Bitcoin, blockchain stocks in the UK have gone nuts since the turn of the year - it’s like the dotcom boom all over again. I’m just trading them though, it’s silly season and I ain’t interested in holding the baby.

Ps Bumpa , you mentioned how crypto was going nuts, and someone told me to take a look at Bitcoin when it was around $5k last year, and by the time I did it was already at $10k and so I didn't bother, earlier today it was $41k plus...WTF....I don't fully understand the dynamics of it, but how high could it go...( another one I've missed while awaiting Evgen to deliver )...:-)))

Lol...it's bleeding freezing here as well, but we've got gas central heating to keep us warm and cosy, i assume that would be a luxury for most houses in Spain , or have you got the air con pumping out hot air as well as the open fire??? :-)

Needs must Bumpa, they reckon one in twenty in some parts of London, and the hospitals won't be able to cope, regardless of where they are in the UK, if the numbers keep rising...and so corners will be cut in the hope that the vaccines will work, which suggests that most treatments could also be accelerated and so I'd be surprised if the first 100 patients administered to SFX-01 hadn't already been recruited given the surge in numbers....let's all hope that the vaccines will work.

Cheers peanut, the latest Covid-19 figures are absolutely shocking, highest number of deaths and cases in one day since the pandemic started, off the scale, let's hope the vaccines work and let's hope SFX-01 will be one of the many treatments that will be needed....the proof will obviously be in the pudding, but the potential multiple therapeutic properties that have been endlessly researched and documented on Sulforphane's panacea qualities for multiple disease targets, including respiratory illnesses associated with Covid-19, has got to significantly increase the chances of the potent SFX-01's chances...let's hope so...Gl :-)

Nrf2-interacting nutrients and COVID-19: time for research to develop adaptation strategies

It is tempting to propose that Nrf2-interacting foods and nutrients can help re-balance IR, and that they can have a significant effect on COVID-19 severity, and possibly also on susceptibility to infection by SARS-CoV-2. It is therefore possible that an increasing intake of specific foods may achieve an optimal natural balance for the Nrf2 pathway, since COVID-19 death rates, used as a proxy of severity, are low or very low in some countries where Nrf2-interacting nutrients are largely used (Fig. 5). Understanding the balance between Nrf2-interacting foods and nutrients would help to: (i) better understand the mechanisms of the oxidative stress in the IR diseases, (ii) develop optimal Nrf2-interacting nutrients and diets to reduce the prevalence and severity of IR diseases, (iii) optimize Nrf2 drug development and (iv) develop these strategies to mitigate COVID-19 severity.

How COVID-19 induces cytokine storm with high mortality

Abstract

The newly emerging coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was first reported in Wuhan, China, but has rapidly spread all over the world. Some COVID-19 patients encounter a severe symptom of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with high mortality.

This high severity is dependent on a cytokine storm, most likely induced by the interleukin-6 (IL-6) amplifier, which is hyper-activation machinery that regulates the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-?B) pathway and stimulated by the simultaneous activation of IL-6-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and NF-?B signaling in non-immune cells including alveolar epithelial cells and endothelial cells.

We hypothesize that IL-6-STAT3 signaling is a promising therapeutic target for the cytokine storm in COVID-19, because IL-6 is a major STAT3 stimulator, particularly during inflammation.

We herein review the pathogenic mechanism and potential therapeutic targets of ARDS in COVID-19 patients.

Very encouraging news in finding a treatment(s) for Covid-19 , and hopefully SFX- 01 will also play a part in due course with its focus on ARDS/ pneumonia....interestingly enough, SFX-01 was originally selected as a potential treatment because it is a potent activator of the Nrf2 pathway, associated with many inflammatory diseases, including respiratory illnesses, but it is also a potent activator of the STAT3 pathway which is associated with many cancers , and STAT3 has recently been highlighted as a potential target for Covid-19 treatment, and sulforaphane's STAT3 also appears to have influence over the il-6 inhibitor highlighted in the results on tocilizumab and sarilumab , and so SFX-01 appears to have multiple potential properties in treating ARDS/Covid......fingers crossed we'll get the green light from the Data and Safety Monertering Board, just as soon as the first 100 patients are recruited and assessed.....Exciting times.... New findings have shown that tocilizumab and sarilumab – both IL-6 receptor antagonists – have a significant impact on COVID-19 patient survival, reducing mortality by 8.5 percent.

The findings, which have not yet been peer-reviewed, come from the REMAP-CAP trial, which evaluates the effect of treatments on a combination of survival and length of time patients need support in an intensive care unit (ICU).

Findings reported in November demonstrated that tocilizumab was likely to improve outcomes among critically ill COVID-19 patients. However the impact on patient survival and length of time on organ support in ICU was not clear at that time.

Not sure it’s conservative or otherwise, from what I see he tends to be pretty rigid on his calls. A little too rigid for my liking but he’s worth watching, along with others.

This feels a bit like Jan ‘00 to me, I hope we have a little more time too though Brasso, not just for EVG.

It’s crazy out there, $TSLA moving through Cathie Woods infamous $4k call - in old money - and the crypto stuff is going nuts. Fun to trade but getting the feel of “bottom of the ninth”... Still, Hunter reckons 4500 on the S&P so room yet, if he’s right.
