Phil, perhaps disappointment on the price achieved.

Unfortunately because it's taken so long to get to this point
some may have lost either interest or faith in the stewardship of ESNT?.

It was not too long ago they issued extra shares to help buy a US packaging business, expanding that division, they also acquired a Spanish packaging company under the
current CEO, then it's a not so quick 180 turn with..we are selling the entire division, ex India.

Essentra Components has agreed a new sustainable supply deal with the UK’s leading rigid tube manufacturer, Iracroft, to save 2.5 million parts going to landfill by using LDPE products that can be chipped and recycled for reuse in future production.

The programme is spearheaded by Iracroft’s largest UK customer and requires all components to be packaged and protected with more sustainable parts that can be recycled and re-enter the supply chain to reduce wastage.

To overcome the challenge Essentra Components has agreed to supply Iracroft with up to 2.5 million LPDE tear caps offering the same level of product protection whilst being easily recyclable, enabling Iracroft to maintain the structural integrity of its original parts.

Iracroft and its customer, will in turn recycle all parts supplied through a circular chipping process, meaning all plastic will return into the manufacturing process as new products.

Trading update says nothing substantive about the strategic review which commenced 9 months ago. How long does such a review take? What specific progress has been made ?

Surely by now they should be saying something about there being interested parties in buying filters and packaging?

I maintain my opinion that the board are very weak, are the type who turn up for meetings for mega bucks but do very little else.

The strategic review comes after years of underperformance in the share price. Its being latched onto as a "good idea" but the board has zero experience in having actually successfully delivered what they are now trying to achieve.

When belatedly announcements are made you need to look very closely at how much shareholder money us being spent on advisers fees. My god, this board need to pay advisers because the board is clueless.

The reality is this business and its strategic review are being held back by the wider global economic environment- something which the board are dismissive of.

This remains a get rich quick for the board with lip service being paid to shareholders.

I've no doubt in the short term the share price might go up a little but in the medium term the price will drop.

Max upside 350 but share price will be 2 quid something by the end of the year. In 2023 it will be lower

Yes prime takeover target. Big mismatch between board pay and competence. None of the board has any experience of actually completing a strategic review to deliver higher shareholder value.

I've no doubt the packaging and filters businesses will be sold at under value, after which boardroom pay will stay high even though essentra will be only a third of its present size.

The new cfo is very much a "let's make a lot of money" for himself guy. Start by googling Jack Clarke Marshalls plc where his package was 1.4m. He then "retired" but stayed on for a year during which time he was paid 500,000 for attending 7 board meetings to 'ensure an orderly transition to his successor'. Its all publicly available information.

If essentra gets taken over by say electrocomponents then they won't need the clueless idiots who sit on the essentra board.

I believe essentra share price will drop before they are taken over at a premium and their board is eventually cleared out.

Not sure what is sustainable about essentra but they keep going on about sustainability. Its a buzz word right now

Essentra Packaging, part of FTSE 250 group Essentra PLC (LSE:ESNT), has made public a collaboration with Advanced Material Development (AMD), developing new smart packaging technology for the pharmaceutical sector.

The pair will work on a new generation of time temperature indicators (TTIs), which are smart labels that show if a product has been subjected to excessive temperatures and for how long.

Allied to Essentra Packaging’s specialist industry knowledge from its focus on the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets, AMD said it is leveraging its technology knowledge and advances in the field of colour-changing polymeric photonic crystals.

Yes, I did like the bit in the analysts report where it says only 1 to 2% of turnover is with Russia. Really dismissive of the wider risk to global supply chains suggesting that senior management haven't got a clue.

The strategic review is good but is only gonna work if the senior team know how to do what they are trying to do. I would like to see evidence of them having actually successfully delivered (in their former lives) of what they need to do here. I can't see much evidence so they are instead going to need to be well advised by expensive advisors, lawyers etc.

This all comes at a cost.

Essentra fell 1.59% even after Berenberg upped its price target on the stock to 370p from 360p.

It said raw materials inflation and supply chain issues are affecting the packaging division, which continued to disappoint.

The bank - which rated the shares at ‘buy’- said it still saw an upside of around 20% to current prices.

Peel Hunt analyst Charles Hall suggests ‘The key to the share price in the short term is the outcome of the Strategic Review-the process to move to a pure-play Components business is ongoing and the review is progressing in line with expectations’.

Essentra’s packaging business has been successfully turned around and now offers a focused business proposition in secondary healthcare packaging.

It will be an attractive asset to many financial and strategic buyers.

However, Essentra filters is a more difficult sell. If no cash buyer is found, Essentra will try to combine it with a competitor or spin it off.

Following the disposals, Essentra will become a standalone components business. Key peers including Electrocomponents, and Diploma trade on average at a clear premium to Essentra.

Holding on to yesterday's gains so far. 😀👍🏼

Vital components manufacturer Essentra gained as it hailed a "strong" full-year trading performance, driven by accelerated growth in the final quarter of the year.
