28/2/2021 10:57 | The new Bank will offer a range of products, including equity, loans and guarantees, which can be tailored to support the needs of private sector infrastructure projects, in sectors such as renewable energy, carbon capture and storage and transportation. hxxps://www.msn.com/ Exclusive: Rishi Sunak to pledge £22bn for new bank in Budget to boost green economy. Britain’s growing green economy will receive a major boost in next week's Budget when Chancellor Rishi Sunak pledges £22billion for a new UK infrastructure bank, The Telegraph can disclose. Mr Sunak will set aside an initial £12 billion of capital and £10 billion of government guarantees for the UK Infrastructure Bank in next week’s Budget. The new Bank will launch in the Spring and operate UK-wide and it is hoped will unlock billions more in private finance to support £40billion of infrastructure investment for the economy. Treasury officials said it should help to achieve the UK’s commitments on net zero and 'levelling up' communities which extra Government support. Speaking ahead of the Budget, Mr Sunak, said: “We are backing this Bank with the finance it needs to deliver modern infrastructure fit for the 21st century and create jobs. “This shows how serious we are about levelling up the country so that everybody can benefit from our future prosperity. “Britain’ The new Bank will offer a range of products, including equity, loans and guarantees, which can be tailored to support the needs of private sector infrastructure projects, in sectors such as renewable energy, carbon capture and storage and transportation. | stevea171

26/2/2021 16:31 | I dread to think what kind of finish we would have had without this 'transformational' news. This share is getting a bit dull now. | paul8515
26/2/2021 14:03 | Wouldn't surprise me if we finish blue today. The RNS was a significant step in the right direction. | hoper1
26/2/2021 11:23 | Also I think the planning issue is being missed here. Redeveloping an existing site does not require planning, maybe some reassurances, but it’s not a planning issue. Getting permission on new waste sites is hell! So once the British, EU or US governments start giving near zero interest loans on green projects those existing sites are where the money is going. With the stick is that say in 4 years time incinerator plants will have to pay full landfill tax on their inputs to reflect air pollution. Just a thought! | davidblack

26/2/2021 10:53 | Like DB, I am intrigued by the suggestion of a big European (?) partner with deep pockets. It won't just be Billingham, will it? There are dozens, if not hundreds, of similar opportunities around Europe and maybe further afield if the technology and the sums work. And it appears that the technology does work. If and when a strategic partner is firmed up to fund Billingham I for one expect a major revaluation of Eqtec. The ducks are lining up.... | hiddendepths
26/2/2021 10:38 | Thanks Nick for above link. Very interesting. The site to be purchased for the Billingham waste to power plant is marked in red. There are buildings shown on the back part of the site. I take it these are to be constructed to house the waste, gasification plant and equipment? Totally different design to the smaller design for the Irish gasification plant adjacent to Shannon airport. | stevea171
