Intriguing turn of events with the share price markedly up this morning, when most everyone else has plummeted!
Hope this signifies impending good news, or some other positive trend in the pipeline.

I did'nt say newsflow was not neccessary, I said it would be "wasted". I have'nt seen any news that has been released through the website that would warrant an RNS. Only material news should be communicated through RNS, not "business as usual" small deals which is the business they are in. Did you consider that maybe there is no significant news that needs to be released at the moment?

I agree that the company now seems to be on the right track, but strongly disagree with comments that news flow is not necessary right now. Of course it is! Shareholders have waited way too long for this price to rise, and now is the time to get the good news out - there will surely be more good news in the future to coincide with a stronger market. If something is annuoncable, then holding back for the sake of the prevailing bear market becomes a regulatory issue.

wodahsnoon - agree with your comments especially that they;re overall strategy is right. I would just like to put a very thick line under the disorganisation that the company has suffered in the last year and move forward.
rochford6 - another good find. I will restrain myself from making any link to the timing of a film deal.

For those of you that are Lone Ranger fans,

The Lone Ranger finally and officially, coming to DVD in November, 2008! The Lone Ranger Fan Club reports that Classic Media is releasing an official 75th anniversary set of The Lone Ranger television show, the first 2 seasons, on DVD on November 11, 2008. It reportedly is a digitally remastered, 13 disc set of seasons 1 & 2, with an 88 page commemorative book, a compete episode guide, a rare comic book, photo reprints and special bonus features. The set will have a retail price of $119.93.

Leaving big deals aside (which may or may not happen)I'm not concerned about the newsflow in these markets - I believe when we are in the middle of a bear market, investors are looking for excuses to sell,not to buy. Any news would be wasted right now. More important would be that ERT is quietly getting on with the job and that it gets reflected in the bottom line over time. The downside is that we drift lower on small volume selling but medium term the share price recovers. that's the gamble. I do get a sense that the overall strategy is right and the emphasis is on marketing what they've got and in parallel cutting costs and reducing debt.

I agree with your comments.
My comments are based upon being at the last AGM and asking about the Lone ranger film and their (the directors)answer being (unless I misheard)that they anticipated making a positive statement about it within a couple of weeks of the AGM.
Also I believe that, based upon previous years, Disney would have to make a statement by about February 2009 at the absolute latest to stand any chance of casting/filming/editing to meet a summer 2010 release . The subject/title of films are almost always released before casting as it cannot be kept quiet thereafter.
Getting scripts from Jerry Bruckheimer is one thing the big issue is whether Disney will pursue a Lone ranger film (or a trio)into full production and release.
But as you say a lot could happen before then.
I hope there will be a positive statement at the interims, or before at the MIPCON in Cannes.

53 Tom - i would not expect news on the Lone Ranger movie yet, I heard the release is not expected to be until summer 2010. A lot could happen between now and then

Well it seems to sum up the situation pretty well, especially about news flow.
Lets hope the next weeks, or the interims whenever they are, address those issues, and they get their act together re regulatory matters, whats happening re Lone ranger as per comment at AGM, new financial director, new contracts especially with MIPCON on the horizon, debt reduction and hopefully strong financials in run up to xmas.
There is the potential to really move the share price higher if the majority of these items are positively addressed - even in this dire market.

Sailing close to the wind on this. This latest news is ANNOUNCEABLE and should be going through the Stock Exchange, not merely put on ER's news listings. Naughty, Naughty!!! Do the right thing ER and make these announcements CORRECTLY in the future.

The company have belatedly listed the new contracts (as per post 2553) in their online news section.
So no RNS for them as there used to be.

Well done - a real result getting a response from the company.
I have sent a couple e-mails over the last months and still await a response.
The MIPCON 2008 is in mid-October so they may wait until just after that to give a statement on interims and trading.

53Tom - the e-mail was a personal response from the company, it is the first time i have had a response to e-mails sent to them.

I did make it clear to the company that i thought that thier communication policy was pretty poor and gave examples of information i had found out about deals the company had made but had not been released to shareholders.

I asked some other questions but as the company is in a closed period they were unable to respond to these questions.

One other thing to come out off the e-mail was that when we get the interims we will alsso get a trading update.

i have had an e-mail from the company confirming an announcement will be made in October regarding the interims. Also that they are working on ways to improve communication with shareholders.

53Tom - got it from some news feeds i subscribe to, as for the interims, they were issued end of september last year but because the company have changed the financial year end to end of February i would guess they will now come out in November. They have three months to issue the results from the end of the interim period which would have been the end of August.

ER Secures New Deals for Core Brands

LONDON, September 4: Entertainment Rights (ER) has signed a number of new broadcasters for George of the Jungle, Finley the Fire Engine and Casper's Scare School, spanning Europe, Latin America and the Asia Pacific.



George of the Jungle now heads to Nickelodeon (Spain), TV Globo (Brazil), Cadena Ecuatoriana (Ecuador), MBC (the Middle East), Alter Channel (Greece), TV4 (Sweden), Noga TV (Israel), Modern Times (Greece), Leader Music (Latin America), Mega (Chile) and America TV (Peru). The show previously launched on Nickelodeon (U.K.), Cartoon Network (U.S.), Disney Channel (Latin America), France 3 and 5 and Super RTL (Germany).



Co-produced by MoonScoop and DQ Entertainment, Casper's Scare School has closed a new raft of sales that includes Cartoon Network (Asia Pacific), TSR (Switzerland), Luis Foes (Portugal), Cartoon Network (Latin America), HVN (Singapore) and ZDF, Ki.Ka and Cartoon Network (Germany). These deals complement existing arrangements with TF1 (France) and Cartoon Network (U.K.).



Finley the Fire Engine has found a new home on National Geographic (Latin America), Disney (Australia), ECTV (Ecuador), Telemundo (Puerto Rico), Luis Foes (Portugal) and Spacetoon (Indonesia). The preschool series made its debut on CBeebies last summer and has sold into more than 90 territories.



Chloe van den Berg, ER's executive director of international, commented: "ER's distribution business has performed extremely well in the first half of the year and we are delighted to announce several significant deals secured with premium broadcast partners in key territories around the world. CBeebies is having a laugh!

UK preschool channel CBeebies is going for laughs next season, with a new slate full of comedy, including a Lenny Henry-voiced puppet show, plus new spin-offs from regulars Postman Pat and Lazytown.

The Henry show, Big & Small, is a copro between Kindle Entertainment, 3J's Entertainment and the BBC, in association with Treehouse TV and Studio 100 of Belgium. It also features the voice of Imelda Staunton.

More puppet laughs come in the shape of Nuzzle & Scratch, starring two incompetent alpacas who work at a job agency for animals. This CBeebies production is produced by Tony Reed and exec produced by Alison Stewart

Following the success of activity show Lazytown, CBeebies has the new UK series Lazytown Extra, a magazine show featuring favourite Lazytown characters. Lazytown Extra is a Lazytown Entertainment and CBeebies production.

Another spin-off from an established CBeebies hit is Postman Pat SDS (Special Delivery Service), in which Pat has been promoted and now has a whole range of vehicles and gadgets. Entertainment Rights is producing.

"Comedy takes centre stage on CBeebies this autumn with a line-up of new, originated British content. Plus we're developing new formats and bringing big names to the channel," said channel controller Michael Carrington.

Twenty more episodes of Ragdoll's In The Night Garden will also return to the 18.20 slot.

New CGI train toon Chuggington from start-up Ludorum, plus new episodes of Louie (Millimages), Harry & Toto (Handle & Sprout Productions), 3rd & Bird (Little Airplane) are also on the slate for next season, which kicks off on September 1.

Well that was one hell of a start to the week.
It certainly spooked some sellers, and the mm's milked it for all they were worth.
Anyway a few lucky buyers got some shares cheap and the share price has unexpectidly finished 0.05p higher on the day.
Hopefully the rest of the week will be less volatile, and with an upward share price
