Rochford 6: Problem is, it goes back to the rights issue in Jan 07 at 28.5p. Ashby Manor et al bought into that and although the share price has been low in recent months, there doesn't appear to have been the volume purchased or the RNS postings to suggest that that Ashby etc have averaged down to a level that would make them sell. Of course it could all be fixed that Ashby etc will get a stake in the new company, taking a loss for now and writing it "for tax purposes", but if the take over is hostile I don't think this is very likely. Ashby et al own a large proportion of the company and with other share holders probably in heavily at much higher share price a hostile take over is unlikely unless over that magic 20p level. Which in that case the deal would have been done in Jan this year! And its only 1% vol today, this volume has been rare.

Pete

there are several options,Personaly i do not think the company are buying the shares back at the moment, read the AGM notes, they will only buy them back when the company is able to, at the moment i believe they would rather reduce their debts. Another option is that someone is intending to go hostile in a takeover and have agreed with a n other to buy their shares and possibly gift them a stake in the new company.

Depending on your current losses/profits situation would decide if the hostile takeover is good or bad.

The above is purely speculation on my part and is not intended as advise, i would appreciate others views on the situation.

Regards
Roch

8.6 mil shares traded, a bit more than 1% of total shares in issue, a lot for one day, shame share price went down. perhaps it is the company buying them back? Share price monitoring as well, something is going on, is it good or bad????

53tom - the majority of the trades today have been AT trades so are matched buys and sells, it is possible that this is the transfer of shares that was mentioned but until we get a holdings RNS we will have to wait and see

Thanks Rochford6 - I take all these tipsters and commentators with a pinch of salt, since the majority have a bias or self-interest. I was really wondering if it had been stated anyone else.
Interestingly there has been some large sells today and, so far, it has not affected the price very much, so presumbly someone is in the background buying them up.

53 Tom - i would not pay too much attention to Geoff foster - he has made some serious mistakes in his reporting of some of my other stocks. He allways seems to refer to speculation.

If a major shareholding does change hands then i presume we will see the trades reported.

there has been no sizeable trades go through reently.

As for the reason behind the transfer of shares, my only assumption is that it will be for a takeover attempt, possibly hostile. But this is purely my opinion.

The Telegraph says it first backed Entertainment Rights in September 2002 at 8p a share. House broker Collins Stewart has a target price on the stock of 60p, while Dresdner Kleinwort has described it as its media sector tip of the year. Buy.

53 tom, maybe there is not a lot of stock available, if this is the case then the Mm's will have to move the price up to get shares

edit - 5000 trade goes through and the price goes up, it will not take a lot of buying for this to take off

Joey, if you are a typical ERT investors this might be a very good sign for those with shares in the company; if you are thinking about too many false dawns then .....now might be the time for the change in shareholder fortunes..maybe, just maybe. Who knows?

HONG KONG – Indian animator DQ Entertainment unveiled pre-tax profits of $7.4 million for the year to March, its first annual results since listing on the London Stock Exchange in December. Figures include an exceptional gain of $4.4 million.
Adjusted profit of $3 million compares with a profit of $620,000 in 2006-07. Revenue also climbed from $15.2 million to $24.1 million.
Company, which is involved with "Ironman" (with Marvel and Method Films) and "Casper" (with Classic Media, Entertainment Rights and Moonscoop) is increasing the amount of properties it generates on its own account or with partners. In the past year it struck alliances with Pritish Nandy Communications/Sony Pictures Entertainment for a foray into live-action films, and separately with Moonscoop and Percept Pictures in the animation sector.
Chairman and CEO, Tapaas Chakravarti says that order book stands at $94.3m.
"The continued demand for our services coupled with the high levels of growth experienced within the Indian economy and the Media and Entertainment sector leaves us confident that 2008/9 will be another year of continued growth," he said in a statement.

Questor says Buy

As Postman Pat lands on the screens of 200m Chinese children, investors are hoping that together with Jess the black and white cat, he will help deliver a turnaround in the media group's fortunes.

The £65m company has been on a difficult path this past year due to a problem with distribution before Christmas and fears that consumers are cutting back on buying DVDs and merchandise.

Last January's £107m acquisition of US group Classic Media - which owns Lassie, Casper The Friendly Ghost, and the Lone Ranger - also looks poorly timed, not just because of the slowdown in the US but also because of the deal's £15m debt element.

Last week, sentiment towards Entertainment Rights improved marginally after the group unveiled a deal to show "Uncle Postman" - as the Chinese call him - on the country's national television network. The network acquired 106 episodes of existing Postman Pat content and Entertainment Rights has secured a DVD distributor and advertising agency to help push the sale of books, cuddly toys and other consumer products in 2009.

Charles Stanley, which has a buy rating and 20p price target on the company, noted that merchandising "can be highly lucrative". It hinted such deals "pave the way for potential future upgrades".

Questor agrees the share price fall is starting to look overdone. Besides Postman Pat, Entertainment Rights owns key brands including Rupert Bear and Basil Brush. It is likely to sell the rights to some of its characters and while this won't lead to a dividend, it would help reduce the group's £108m debt.

The acquisition of Classic Media should in the long term create cross-selling opportunities around the world. For the bold, buy.

I'm in also, looking at what they have 20p would be a more reasonable share price
Off topic have a look at SHG. just 2.5p a share with cash alone of 6p a share. Institutions buying at 5.25p a share. Interesting info on BB. Stick it on your monitor.
