24/7/2008 08:23 | humphbumph - are you still invested in ERT? Interested because you seem to never have anything positive to say about the company! | darlocst
24/7/2008 08:18 | Gaines was the only class exec they had at ERT. They're going to miss her. I think you'll find that Robin Miller's record at EMAP was very patchy. The company is no longer quoted. I never understand why ERT is not able to recruit classy people. I have a horrible feeling we're in for another 8 years in the doldrums. It's a new Chairman that we need. | humphbumph
24/7/2008 08:05 | Hi Miikke I do not believe that Elizabeth Gaines ever worked at Disney, i believe that she worked for a London city firm. However ET has taken on a couple of marketing people in the last 2 years who were highly regarded at Disney. | 53tom
24/7/2008 07:51 | I am convinced that ER is at long last wanting to wake and shake itself. Gaines's departure, and the very long-overdue departures of those non-execs is part of the new image this company is so keen to show the world. Gaines was no doubt part of the old Heap regime, so it's better she's gone and fresh blood brought in. And with these two new non-execs, hopefully..... we'll see some proper "corperate govenence" as Bransgrove calls it, and the new men will be truly independent and on the side of us shareholders. At long last!!! This news is so overdue but so very welcome. | hotips
24/7/2008 07:44 | It seems the new man is having a clear out as she is not the only move. Given the price has risen on the news, it would seem the market is not too worried | kenmill
24/7/2008 07:40 | I remember when Elizabeth Gaines was appointed and there was much excitment about this being a great thing for ERT. Can someone with greater knowledge than me tell us what her responsibility was and if her suprising departure will give ERT unforseen problems. I know that she had a fantastic reputation at Disney and so her departure is a bit disappointing. | miikke
24/7/2008 07:37 | I have always maintained that this company has an excellent library of rights with true global appeal. The problems have always been (1) Mike Heap - and he's history - (2) Lack of positive news flow, and at long long long last management are showing firm signs of addressing this major issue. Heap needed to be got rid of before anyone would believe in this company and with Phillips running the show, the time is right for fresh excitement in this company. | hotips
24/7/2008 07:05 | Good RNS seems Nick Phillips is doing all the right things so far, these changes are well overdue. | 53tom
24/7/2008 06:52 | Believing in ERT is dangerous trust me. :-) I have the t shirt JW | joey wilson
24/7/2008 06:50 | Phillips tasked with increasing shareholder value. Hopefully this is the beginnings of things to come. JW | joey wilson
24/7/2008 06:47 | Beleive it or not I don't have the heart to sell. This share price should never have gone so low. Good news will hopefully make me some money at last.I watch most of your comments with interest. In a weird kind of way I think I am beginning to believe again. Other positive sentiment out there also.. JW | joey wilson
24/7/2008 06:22 | Institutional take up follows individual appointments they can trust!!!! | svendid
24/7/2008 06:08 | more good news, more fresh blood with experience is just what this company needs. Things are looking better | rochford6
23/7/2008 18:25 | Rochford - I think you're spot on regarding volumes - it's easy to short when there are no buyers and ERT credibility went down the tubes early 2008. The real significance of the China deal could well be not just Postman Pat (though this stands on it's own merits) but the relationship it could establish with the national broadcaster of the biggest market in the world for selling other titles + ancilliaries etc. Their distribution channel is also tied up nicely. | wodahsnoom
23/7/2008 17:33 | Joey a common approach if your undecided is to sell half and leave half in place, that way you reduce your risk and still have a chance to gain/lose on the remaining amount. Only keep in what you feel comfortable with. It is something I wish I had done back in April! However i will be staying in for now and see what other news there is. Good luck to all. | 53tom
23/7/2008 17:20 | Joey - there have been some brokers notes out recently stating that this is a buy to the 15p to 20p range. I had also heard that there had been a shorting campaign on ERT which if true will show up pretty quick when the shorts have to close(if they have not already) the price will rise rapidly. If you look at the trades over the last couple of days it did not take much buying to get the price up. Add in the expected news regarding the deal with Disney and the fact the company seem to be Informing us a bit better then i think this has got some way to go yet. If you need to sell then fair enough but if you can wait then best to wait. purely my opinion of course | rochford6
23/7/2008 17:10 | Have faith, Joey. You are not alone in having your patience sorely tried by this company, but do you seriously think that the likes of Bransgrove and Hemmings have invested so heavily to see it all go down the pan? Go on, stay with it.......with regular news flow this company could really get the share price moving..... | hotips
23/7/2008 15:16 | This share price movement is exactly what I've been on about for years with this company. Make regular positive announcements and the price responds. Ignore the market and the price drifts down. PR flow from this company is EVERYTHING. | hotips
23/7/2008 10:14 | When the overdue Disney film contracts are announced the price should really take off. They were hoping to announce the Disney Lone Ranger films a week or so ago. So should be any day now. | 53tom
23/7/2008 09:37 | On ERT site a news item today re a new 321 penguins DVD out beginning of september. | 53tom
23/7/2008 09:32 | Looks like as if someone is trading the shares on the Chinese Stock exchanges...... Hordes of little Postman Pat chinese investors sitting in share shops, drinking coffee, and watching the share display boards with the Postman Pat news streaming acros the walls!!! ERT will probably go for a secondary listing in China? | svendid
23/7/2008 08:38 | So far i have found 8 papers/trade mags that have featured this news. One of the trade sites is interviewing Andrew Kerr executive director for consumer products. i will post a link when it comes out | rochford6
23/7/2008 08:35 | Good find Rochford6. Hopefully with the full page articles in Times and articles in other papers and the crucial licensing deals we are on the way back. Heres hoping. | 53tom
23/7/2008 08:28 | From the classic media website "With respect to the recent ruling regarding LassieĀ®, Classic Media is disappointed by the Ninth Circuit's decision. The case centered on a matter of non-exclusive copyright interest, however, we would note that while this narrow point of law was before the Court, Classic Media's trademarks and its rights to create, distribute and merchandise the Lassie-brand were never at issue. Further, we are pleased to announce that the parties have independently reached complete resolution of all matters in the case, with Classic Media owning the exclusive 100% copyright in Lassie. Classic Media looks forward to continuing to bring the adventures of the world's most famous dog to audiences everywhere for generations to come." | rochford6 |
