As of October 1, 2019, Engie's regulated tariffs decreased by 2.4% compared to the scale in effect applicable since September 1, 2019. This decrease is 0.6% for customers who use gas for cooking, 1.4% for those who have dual use cooking and hot water, and 2.5% for homes that heat gas. This change results from the application of the tariff formula defined in the decree of June 27, 2019 relating to the regulated natural gas tariffs of Engie.

Since 2015, changes in Regie's tariff rates for natural gas sales excluding tax and CTA (transport tariff contribution) represent a cumulative decrease of 13.3%.

Qatar Investment Authority is in negotiations to buy up to 25% stake in Adani Group’s flagship power transmission and distribution asset — Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd -- for up to Rs 4,000 crore ($564.3 million at current exchange rate), people in the know told The Economic Times.

The funds will be used to deleverage the balance sheet and provide growth capital to the business, the report said. “This will be more of a financial investment with a reputed sovereign wealth fund that also has operational expertise in infrastructure, especially the power sector,” said a long-time Adani Group observer on the condition of anonymity.

In August 2018, Anil Ambani sold his Mumbai power distribution business to Adani Transmission Ltd for Rs 12,700 crore,. Subsequently, the Mumbai business got housed under a stepdown subsidiary.

Meanwhile, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and Edelweiss Infrastructure Yield Plus fund are competing to acquire the solar energy portfolio of French major Engie in India for around $400 million (Rs 2,835.6 crore at current exchange rate), two people aware of the development told The Economic Times.

Both have submitted firm offers and a final decision is due in the next couple of weeks. Actis, another global investor in the race, had backed out recently, the report said.

GIP India is believed to have submitted a proposal that includes cash along with stock in its own clean energy subsidiary Vector Green Energy. Edelweiss Infra is bidding through Sekura Energy Ltd, the energy-focused platform wholly owned by Edelweiss Infrastructure Yield Plus, the report added.

In another development, Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra has secured a six-month extension till March 31 from lenders to repay debt which was to be paid back by September 30, a mutual fund executive familiar with the details told Mint.

The lenders, as part of the agreement, agreed not to sell pledged shares of the group’s flagship Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) as the company would sell assets to repay all dues to lenders.

The company, which owed Rs 7,500 crore to the lenders, has since repaid Rs 3,356 crore, the report said.

Essel group sold 8.7% stake in ZEEL and repaid Rs 3,356 crore to mutual funds from the proceeds.

On 29 August, Essel group said it would sell 205 megawatts (MW) of its operational solar energy assets to Adani Green Energy Ltd at an enterprise value of Rs 1,300 crore.

Also, online makeup and beauty products retailer Purplle is in talks to raise up to Rs 300 crore ($42.3 million at current exchange rate) in its Series C round of funding led by Goldman Sachs Investment Partners, the growth and venture capital investment arm of Goldman Sachs, two people close to the deal told Mint.

Existing investors Blume Ventures, IvyCap Ventures and JSW Ventures are also expected to participate in the round, the report said.

Purplle competes directly and indirectly with brands including Nykaa, founded by veteran investment banker Falguni Nayar, Sugar Cosmetics and skincare startup Plum, backed by Unilever Ventures, the venture capital and private equity arm of consumer giant Unilever.

Credit Agricole SA (ACA.FR) said Thursday that Banque des Territoires and Groupe Groupama have agreed to enter the capital of its renewable-energy investment subsidiary Predica Energies Durables.

Once the transaction is complete, Banque des Territoires and Groupama will hold 22% and 18% of PED respectively, while the French bank will hold the remaining 60%.

PED, a subsidiary of the bank's insurance arm, is an investment vehicle focused on renewable energy production assets, and was founded in partnership with France's Engie SA (ENGI.FR).

The entry of these two new investors in PED's capital will increase its capacity to invest, Credit Agricole said.

The transaction is expected to close by December this year.

Oddo organized a meeting with the Engie management. The analysis office believes that the growth in the client solutions business remains well oriented. 'After a difficult Q1, the Q2 performance has recovered and the outlook for 5-9% EBIT growth in 2019 seems within reach for the group'.

The legislation provides for a triennial revision of the amount of nuclear provisions and the next revision is expected in Q4 2019. Given the recent rate cut, we believe that the regulator will adjust the discount rates by 50bp. On average, we estimate that this revision will lead to an increase in provisions of 2.7 billion in 2019, says Oddo.

Analysts believe that Engie's valuation does not correctly reflect its medium-term outlook. They find that value continues to be valued at a 15.0% discount to the sector.

'The title remains a good candidate for a Value investor. The yield of 5.7% seems attractive to us. Oddo confirms his advice on the purchase of value and raises TARGET to 16 E (instead of 15 E).

TEESS, a 50-50 joint venture between Total SA (FP.FR) and Envision Group, is launching its commercial activity for solar projects in China, the French energy giant said Monday.

The joint venture between Total and the Shanghai-based smart energy technology company will offer business-to-business customers distributed solar energy systems and digital solar energy solutions.

TEESS will aim to become the number-one choice for industrial and commercial clients in China as more and more companies transition to renewable power, TEESS Chief Executive Alex Sun said.

ENGIE WINS £2.8M SOLENT UNIVERSITY ENERGY CONTRACT

13 September 2019 | Prithvi Pandya

Engie has won a 20-year contract worth £2.8 million at Solent University’s new sports complex, which has been connected to Southampton Geothermal Heating Company’s (SGHC) pioneering district energy scheme.

The SGHC is a working partnership between Engie and Southampton City Council that launched more than 30 years ago. The scheme supplies heat, chilled water and electricity to commercial and residential energy users across Southampton – currently serving a 2-kilometre radius of the energy centre.

Solent University has tasked Engie with the implementation of a new heating connection that would link up existing assets, as well as a new state-of-the-art sports centre.

The SGHC currently saves about 10,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year using heat from a large-scale combined heat and power (CHP) plant, supplemented by geothermal energy and conventional boilers.

The university required a new district heating connection with a substation to provide heating and domestic hot water for the new facilities with a predicted annual heating consumption of 620 megawatt hours a year and a contractual peak load of 875 kilowatts, which Engie is poised to deliver through the connection to SGHC.

About 150 metres of pre-insulated district heating steel pipework were installed adjacent to the Southampton Solent University building on East Park Terrace, Southampton.

Andrew Hart, managing director for Engie’s urban energy business, said: “We have adopted an incredibly flexible approach to our service delivery to ensure we can continue making connections to the scheme and extend this unique solution. We look forward to working with our partners in the council, as well as the university over the next 20 years to deliver a first-rate service for people and businesses in the region.”

Paul Colbran, chief information and infrastructure officer at Solent University, said: “Solent is undergoing a £100 million estate redevelopment programme to provide new and improve current campus facilities, and the new sports complex is just one element of that programme.

“With such a large infrastructure project and our desire to be cleaner, greener and more environmentally sustainable, the geothermal system helps us keep our emissions down and makes sense connecting with the current infrastructure already in place.”

Engie said the new system is operational and is delivering heating and cooling for the sports centre and beyond.
