cmackay - the FSA couldn't give a toss about the barefaced corruption perpetrated on a daily basis on AIM by actual company insiders.With non disrespect intended, they're not even going to be aware of your existence, much less pursue you for what will be, in relative terms, utterly insignificant sums being traded by you - regardless of whether, strictly speaking, you have used 'insider information' or not.So if you have access to channels that can give you an advantage in your investment decisions, use them as well as you can; but for your own peace of mind, keep it to yourself.

Technically anything which isn't in the public domain would be seen as trading on insider information

It would all depend what the Director said in reply to any question you asked. however, I would expect them to be very careful with any information they gave you as they will be well aware of general insider trading rules

but...you don't ask, you don't get :)

Ok thank you Buffy. Not the US, sportbilly. I will explain.

I have a friend that works in the Indonesian Embassy, I'm not going to say which country until I know I won't be causing them trouble. It is near Indonesia though.

I told my friend about Mako, and asked if there were anyone I could speak to in order to get some information. The contact I was given was for a 'director of economics and investment', or something to that effect. I can get that verbatim if required.

If I ask this director for information, is that illegal to trade on? I haven't done anything yet, and will await advice.

According to the Annual Report 2016-2017:

7. Discontinued operations (continued)
If the average New York Mercantile Exchange strip price of light sweet crude oil (WTI) for the calendar period ... of 1 July 2017 until 31 December 2017 exceeds US$60.00 per barrel (the “Second Contingency”), then CEP II shall pay to the Company an additional US$1,000,000 for every whole dollar in excess of US$60.00 per barrel (collectively, the “Second Contingent Payment”) provided the Second Contingent Payment shall not exceed US$5,000,000. If there is no First Contingency Payment, this shall not preclude a Second Contingent Payment if the Second Contingency is met.

I'm pretty sure that the minimum limit was originally $65 per barrel, but hey, any payment at all seems extremely unlikely. We're talking about the average here. July-September quarter has hovered around $50.

From memory it's phased, first target $61, then in dollar increments to $65. And that average is for 6 months starting July 1st.
