SGC : post on Hotcopper bb by ' Jamieparklondon '.

The company is now waiting on regulatory approvals for the frac program which can take two to three months which is why they feel only able to say fracking in the first quarter. Could take sixty days could take 90 days all in the hands of the Californian regulatory authorities. From a call I had with GJ prior to Christmas I understand the plan is to frack just the second zone only which will give it access hopefully to zones both above and below where they are now, some 50 to 100 feet vertically in both directions. So instead of having a limited 30 feet of perforations they could have up to 130 feet open.

My understanding further is that they are not looking to increase the flow rate by double or triple current rates but by multiples of current rates.

First gas to sales from the second zone will hopefully be achieved by the end of December, in other words by the end of this week.

Lot of excited people on the ground at Dempsey given Sacgasco has achieved a Sacramento Basin first by producing from the deeper sands.

ASX re-opens tonight. Most likely no ' new news ' from SGC re : Dempsey but perhaps we'll see an RNS from Empyrean re : a China update tomorrow.

As mentioned Block 29 / 11 is likely to be the main prize in 2018/9.
Overall EME valuation of 44p risked upside from “LongoverShort “ detailed research report linked below comprises 6p for Duyung but 4 times more for China.

No Opinion
Very quiet here. A quick valuation to consider.
- Dempsey $5m (based on SGC market cap)
- Duyung $5m (based on industry transactions in region)
- China $5m (based on best case value)
EME is over valued at 3X at least - plenty of room to fall yet, so why would you top up? I would be Top Slicing or Running like Hell the MMs appear 'long and wrong' and trying to hold this up to escape in my view. Take Care

Agree 100% Curry. China is where the big returns will come from. Dempsey and Indonesia are side shows.

Investors should look at the chart above and note that the main driver at the start of September from 10p to 30p was actually China on truly outstanding numbers..

Empyrean Energy PLC ("Empyrean" or the "Company")
Offshore China Block 29/11 Initial Seismic Data Results Exceed Expectations

-- Preliminary mapping of 'raw seismic 3D data' confirms structural validity of Jade and Topaz prospects and identifies a third significant target named Pearl
-- Jade preliminary mean unrisked resource potential 103 million barrels ('mmbbls') oil
-- Topaz preliminary mean unrisked resource potential 365 mmbbls oil
-- Pearl preliminary mean unrisked resource potential 123 mmbbls oil
-- Full data processing and oil migration studies are on-going

Empyrean Energy plc (EME: AIM), the oil and gas development company with interests in China, Indonesia and the United States, is pleased to announce that it has finalised the preliminary internal interpretation of the 'fast-tracked' processing of raw seismic data from the recently acquired 3D seismic on Block 29/11, offshore China. This preliminary interpretation has confirmed the structural validity and the potential size of the Jade and Topaz prospects and has revealed an exciting new prospect named Pearl which is located to the north of Topaz.
Empyrean CEO Tom Kelly commented, "Empyrean is excited to confirm that, based on our internal preliminary analysis, Block 29/11 contains prospects of truly significant scale and size. That the three priority targets have a cumulative mean potential to contain 591 million barrels of oil is a great early result from the 3D seismic data recently acquired. We will obtain better resolution and imaging from the full processing of data, a process which is underway and the results of which will be announced in due course, but these early results greatly exceed our expectations and the data quality is excellent."

we seem to have got bogged down with mirroring the poor performance, on low volume of SGC, where IMHO, Dempsey is only a small part compared to China.

summary on hot copper..

"Difficult to understand the sellers, not as though this is still an exploration play in the Sacramento Basin, it is clearly a development play with the worst outcome payback from the proven shallow gas zones. The upside is the potential of the deeper high pressured reserved never before intersected in the way the Dempsey 1-15 well has done. Could be muliti Bcf even a Tcf or two of gas
Fracking the second zone will give access to sands above and below the current zone that you can't access by perforations. Just takes time to get the approvals in place. In the meantime gas should start flowing to sales as early as next week. And who knows gas production could open up pathways in these tight but high pressured sands.
Then there is Alvares and three more Dempsey type locations to test.
Sacgasco is already a producer of gas from a part of California not plagued by greenies and anti fossil fuel activists. This is conservative country, the locals are very friendly. Open access infrastructure runs nearby. Results have sparked interest of large Californian company CRC Corp.
Sacgasco has a market cap of just on $20 million. 88 Energy which hasn't produced anything yet and runs pretty much on blue sky has a market cap of over $100 million and was once twice that.
You really don't get an oiler with as much as Sacgasco has going for it at these prices."

Saf - ref 14342

Absolutely agree that Tulainyo is now likely to be the leader in terms of the proof of concept that the deeper plays can flow without stimulation. I do wonder if the Tulainyo partnership will go for a stimulation programme in the event the first zones don't flow at commercial rates or if they will quickly move up the well to the next zone.
In pure exploration terms there are two major hurdles. Firstly, finding the resource and secondly extracting it economically. I think we now have enough evidence from Dempsey and Tulainyo to show that the gas exists in the deeper zones and even better than that, it is dry gas and of pipeline quality (at least at Dempsey). So all that remains is to solve the second problem :-)

bskiny,
Have a look at fig 3 on page 4 which shows the Tulainyo / Alvares & Dempsey trends and get your slide rule out!
Bear in mind that T1 is deeper than T2.
Alvares is much deeper at 4380m (14060 feet ). They are planning a sidetrack next year of the 1982 discovery well by Hunter to ascertain the integrity of the well bore & see if they can get a flow as a basis for a meaningful test.

Stew,

Tulainyo 1 was drilled to a greater depth.T2 was always intended to be drilled to a lower depth as a proof of concept well to see if they can get a commercial flow from the overpressured upper sands in the first instance.

“The Tulainyo-2 well is going to be drilled nearby the original Tulainyo-1 well and the JV is only planning to drill to 1,600m. The well aims to test the upper sands and determine if the well can flow gas at a rate that proves the commercial viability of the play. There is no doubt there is gas in the formations, but the well will be a success only if the well can be completed and gas produced to surface.
It is believed that there is more gas at lower levels, which remain unexplored, but this well is a proof of concept that will prove if a well can be drilled into the overpressured gas charged structure. “

bskiny,

My understanding is that Tulainyo is on trend with Alvaras, not sure if it is a pointer with Dempsey,

Safi,

Thanks for that do you know why they drilled short at Tulainyo ?
