Could only read first para as not registered. I have more than her but just bought a few at a time over the years. It soon builds up if you don't sell.

Daughter from 1st marriage lives down there so we visit often. Nice swimming off Bexhill beach toward the pier (long way off lol, maybe I'll make it there and back this summer)

Laz - I like Hastings; I used to do a lot of work down there once upon a time.

Devon for me.

Hastings has a lot of character and is cheaper than Brighton as the transport links are not as good.

The Mrs has some buy to-lets down there.

on the other hand, if EME hits £2 I'll build a helipad for the school and they can fly in from the coast ;-)

JB, would love that but not practical. We were looking at Hastings way but EME has taken a lot longer than expected and now the kids are settled it would be too difficult to uproot them again! So unfortunately tied in to school and sports club locations, and of course family!

Laz - We've found the house with land by the sea. It's not a wreck of a house, but it needs modernising and extending. It's my early retirement project; I'm hoping it will take about 18-24months.

I wonder how we are going on with finding our missing $2 million?

I would love to build a passive house, or find a wreck to retro-fit. Building plot - just can't find land in the right place at the right price and don't fancy being half way up some mountain track just yet!

Oh, yeah and a good old back burner for the stove as a backup.

I won't see the payback, but as I say, I like the knowing what I've got.

starz - We have avoided the smart meter so far as well. I'm glad that I did.

My next house is going to be off grid. I prefer the security of warmth and electricity supplies. Ground source heat pump, micro-hydro, solar PV, battery storage and solar thermal.

It'll keep me busy and the good thing is, the Mrs is fully supportive.

starz, we've had a smart meter for years. Assume the companies use those figures. Greenies have caused these extra costs on us all.
