Mach100 being quiet may be good as it is easier to read considered comments without trawling through masses of garbage. My take on EMIS is that it has a pretty good track record. Growing revenue, operating profit, eps and dps. So this is a growth company and is currently on a P/E of 19.6, yield of 2.40% and cover of 2.125x on a share price of 666p. All well and good. To be more precise the growth in sales is 24%pa, eps 12%pa and dps 14%pa non compounded over three years. The big unknown is the investment of £57.5m in Ascribe -RNS 13/09/13. This could make or break EMIS as there is now a lot of debt on the books which is only going to be paid for if profitable sales result. If we trust the managers to continue to deliver then we invest; if the risks look too great then we sell up. Personally I'm on the fence, happy to hold at the current share price and see which way the story unfolds over the following months.

I have used EMIS for 20 yrs , am embarrassed to admit that I have only just noticed that they floated !
I generally don't like small companies with big spreads , but I shall bide my time here for an entry point.

Results look rather good to me.

Embedded in the NHS now (what is the penetration - 53% or similiar?).

Increasingly ubiquitous in UK health care (becoming indispensable even).

This means "look through" earnings and profits seem assured a long way out into the future.

Cash and Cashflows also seem rather good.

What can we expect from the update next week?

My concern here is that they are a one trick pony totally reliant on the NHS and surely a time has to come when the growth curve flattens as their market share reaches saturation and so their multiple must start to reduce accordingly ?

Has this bottomed out yet? Seems to have come a long way off its peak. A market leader with nice contracts and earnings. The NHS is a basket case though and needs reform no matter who wins in 2015. Any comments from holders on the drift down? Really quiet board here and company is rather hard to value.

The purchase today looks positive. EMIS certainly has a strategy and the will to deliver it. I'm topping up.

Today's announcement by Jeremy Hunt of NHS IT investment should boost suppliers such as EMIS. Hunt's aim is that all NHS patients should be able to book GP appointments and repeat prescriptions online.

Trading update good too. Should keep mopping up more business as the NHS becomes more 'shared'. Chart is a bit choppy though but could be worth a punt at these levels below 800.

Did anyone hear conf call this morning for further lead on this?

On bullish track, profit shortfall described as "marginal" and increased cost caused by greater expansion of EMIS Web, ramping up for future sales, together with shortfall in sales in Oz. On opposite track, is this the first of the normal three warnings ......

This is one of those stocks that doesnt appear particularly cheap, but the insti's love and so it gets to silly p/e's.
Struggling to see how this is worth 650p, but wish I held some all the same!

It's quiet round here.

This has been a winner recently. What's the story?
