07/9/2010 16:46 | That seems to have prompted some action - a very timely RNS to say EMIS Web receives full roll-out approval. | therailwaytrackers
07/9/2010 14:50 | The chart is becoming dreadful, my major concern is if EMIS Web does not get passed in October and slips into Q1 2011, that would scupper the forecasts for 2011, I can envisage the share sub 250p in such a circumstance. | simon gordon
06/9/2010 11:41 | 26/8/10: New GP computer system A new computer system is being rolled out to GPs across Eden allowing them to share basic patient information with community healthcare staff working at Penrith Community Hospital. Called EMIS Web, the system will allow GPs to share a small amount of information from patient's records with other health professionals over a secure network. This is only done after seeking the patient's permission each time it is accessed. The system has already been rolled out across South Lakeland between GPs and community healthcare staff. The ability to access these shared records will allow healthcare staff at the Penrith hospital to find out important information about a patient they are treating. Normally they would have to ask for the patient's surgery to send this information each time it is needed. By computerising this information it will reduce delays and help healthcare professionals access this information especially outside normal surgery hours. ===== 19/8/10: Hertfordshire-based Rx counts 2,500 pharmacies as its customers, representing a 20.5 per cent share of the market. Emis said there is more market share to be gained among the UK's 12,200 pharmacies. "We would see small multiples and some independents being able to bring in technology that only huge chains have been able to afford," said Mr Riddell, who is also a non-executive director of Leeds-based internet pharmacy Pharmacy2u. He said Emis will work with Rx to streamline repeat prescription ordering, linking GPs, patients and pharmacies. This could mean pharmacies are able to increase their buying power, thus cutting costs and increasing efficiency both for pharmacies and GPs. "If you can see what drugs are going to be ordered typically over the next six months for pharmacies within an area, you can manage your ordering to be hugely more efficient," said Mr Riddell. An initial £9m payment includes £8.3m in cash and 216,683 shares worth £700,000. Another £950,000 will become payable dependent on Rx hitting profit targets. Mr Riddell said: "Since inception, Rx has made rapid progress in penetrating the pharmacy market, demonstrating superior customer service levels and a commercial and innovative approach to its product offering. "The opportunity to purchase a majority stake in Rx fits perfectly with our strategy of supplementing organic growth with diversification through acquisitions, where felt appropriate, into related areas of healthcare IT. "We look forward to working with the management team to take the company forward as we build our 'joined-up healthcare' proposition." Rx's core product, ProScript, is a dispensary management system. It handles tasks such as labelling and endorsing, patient records, ordering, and stock control. The company also provides information required under the NHS IT programme for pharmacist audit and remuneration purposes. For the year ended January 31, Rx reported revenues of £9.97m and earned normalised profits before tax of £1.5m. Emis said the acquisition is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first full year of ownership. Rx has an annual licensing model and about 80 per cent of its revenues are recurring. Rx is also highly cash generative and net cash balances on completion are expected to be about £5.1m. | simon gordon
04/9/2010 10:40 | With the RX acquisition I reckon they'll do c.23p in 2011, giving a forward p/e of c.13x @ 310p and yielding 4%. ----- Link to MoneyWeek tip: | simon gordon
23/7/2010 19:54 | Full page tip by Paul Hill in Money Week today (no link sorry) The article suggests EMIS are well placed to benefit from the new GP-centric NHS funding model as clear sector leader (52% of GP market). Suggested risks include political interference but a possible takeover prospect. I know 2 GPs well: both use EMIS systems, and rate them highly - it's a difficult market to expand in if your offering isn't up to the job. They're also untainted by the national programme which probably helps. | marth

14/7/2010 21:55 | I think will still be expensive at 250p. A lot to prove and plenty of unknowns re NHS funding. | stegrego
14/7/2010 20:21 | Evolution - April 2010 12/10 EPS - 18.6p 12/11 EPS - 21.3p 250p = 13.4x They've yet to prove EMIS Web and their first TU had two negatives, it is so illiquid that a couple of weeks of small sells could take it down to 250p. | simon gordon
14/7/2010 09:33 | Yip, exceptional cost is coming to close it down. Could be Q1 2011 before market re-rates, if Emis Web is a cracker. | simon gordon

14/7/2010 08:52 | "EMIS Inc, the Group's Canadian subsidiary, responsible for less than 1% of Group revenues in 2009, has not made the progress expected during the period and the Group is reviewing certain strategic options regarding this business." whats more relevant is the proportion of costs. | yoyoy
14/7/2010 08:07 | Couple of negatives in the TU: Trading for the full year remains in line with management expectations. Overall, turnover for the first half was £29.02 million (H1 2009: £28.9 million) pending the roll out of EMIS Web. Customers' discretionary spend on hardware and engineering services has been lower than anticipated but has been compensated for by increases in core annually recurring revenues, particularly those relating to the provision of hosting solutions. EMIS Inc, the Group's Canadian subsidiary, responsible for less than 1% of Group revenues in 2009, has not made the progress expected during the period and the Group is reviewing certain strategic options regarding this business. ----- Could be a slow mover until EMIS Web gains traction. | simon gordon

16/6/2010 19:48 | Healthcare systems open to a new generation By Philip Stafford Published: June 16 2010 After a lost decade, the UK healthcare software market is opening up to a new generation of companies. Government spending and media attention for much of the past 10 years has centred on the flagship £12.7bn National Programme for IT, an all-encompassing plan to modernise and connect large parts of the IT system of the NHS in England and Wales. But the scale and complexity of the project led to long delays and contractors had their fingers burnt. Isoft, once worth £1bn, almost collapsed while BT's Global Services division attributed a significant part of its £1.3bn writedown in 2008-09 to contract delays within the project. This year has seen officials responsible for its implementation admitting that the National Programme will not deliver all that it intended , most notably in the critical area of patient care records. Its breakdown, and government plans for the NHS to make at least £20bn in efficiency cuts, has given emerging companies such as Emis, System C Healthcare,Iris Software and INPS rapid inroads into the market. | simon gordon

07/5/2010 12:50 | Sniffing around the story it looks like EMIS Web, their new product, is the key catalyst for share appreciation. It goes into live testing during Q2 & Q3, if all is well they expect to start rolling it out in early Q4. Might be best to wait and see if Web gets final approval before buying in. I also gather that EMIS is a sitting duck as a takeover target, they've been approached a number of times in the past, maybe once Web gathers steam and the share is higher they'll get a bid for say 600p+. By the way, EMIS have a good track of delivery, though Web is running late. | simon gordon |
