Bearing in mind this company has cash worth 2.5p a share its a decent platform and Mellon and Dattels know what they are doing. Look to previous RNS and you will see former CEO of Lonmin, Brad Mills, is also a major investor in Ferrum

Agree with you all - excellent news - a strong vote of confidence for the value of Ferrum. The bottom was 2p. 2.5p beckons in the short-term. Thereafter, in these difficult times, advances will surely need to be news related.

Certainly a good degree of faith with those relativly large buys at a pretty good price considering.

Having been a little concerned about the possible price of the private placement, i am quite satisfied with the outcome.

Now all we need is for Ferrum to find something big!

It looks like management have voted with their wallets here and quite big chunks as well. 400K and 340k respectivly for mellon and dattals.

Hi richgar,

Re your tax query of 21st, suggest you read

-Gengulphus's 4149 of 30.5.2010 on the CGT board; and
- zangdook's 2928 of 29.5.2010 on the (old) URU board, together with the related link to a URU RNS.

The long and short of it appears to be that certain offshore co's qualify for a tax credit even if none has been deducted....

URU is another BVI-incorporated Dattels vehicle, so the read-across seems valid.

As ever, NAI, DYOR, I'm not a tax expert etc

Working on my 2010/11 tax return today and, looking through my tax certificates, was reminded of the EML divi paid in May 2010. My tax cert says it was paid with no tax deducted, so am I right in thinking I'm going to be charged tax on it when I declare it in my return? I don't suppose the fact that the country of incorporation is the British Virgin Islands helps me here.

This puts today's POLO divi into perspective too: we get the 2p divi but the stock price falls by 2p - yet we have to pay tax on the 2p divi (even if held in an ISA), so effectively we're out of pocket by 20% of the amount of our divi payment.

Am I right here, or can someone enlighten a man without an accountant?

Certainly in the short-term Vosene and a few others have correctly called POL over EML. In the medium term I expect the position to be reversed.

A bit of activity today. The two 400ks could have been a put-through, but usually that would be done less than a minute apart; so could well have been two purchases.

Perhaps an indication that the placing price will be at a premium to the current share price ..; certainly no lower than 2p.

What dilution?
Not unexpected - especially when a previous RNS mentioned high Net Worth individuals joining. Good to tap them for cash but at the cost of more shares issued.

I think that the cash held at last year end has been invested in a private mining business.

I aim to buy more stock should the price fall with the general market
