Yes I see this as being in play. The trading information is also very positive which suggests there is value here. |
I'm puttng as much as I can afford in here. If it was worth 2 bids (including one at £1.60) then it's worth more than the price it's retreated to. Confident of seeing a rise back above £1.50 in early course. |
Bit surprised by this pull back. I sold on Friday after a decent rise from sub £1. Was kicking myself on Monday. Value is clearly seen at at least £1.60 (based on the bid) and one would expect the share price to rise back to that in relatively short order. I'm back in, hopefully for a swift rise back to £1.60ish. GLA. |
Only just seen that, get the feeling they are wanting north of 200 |
"The Board of Elementis would always consider the merits of an engagement at a level that offers attractive value to its shareholders and that reflects the nature of its high margin activities with strong underlying growth prospects."
That is from the Elementis response. Sounds to me as though they are suggesting that if the price is right we are up for grabs. |
It's one of those days when you wish you had but you didn't. |
Elementis should have given a RNS when the offer was made |
Perhaps I'm too cynical but I've a feeling PIs got played here. |
Hard to see how this won't be taken over in the next year, the market seems very impatient in being willing to wait. |
Very much agree. A bit of patience here. Failing that a decent company whose products I own for once. |
I suspect that this is still in play. That is the second bidder that has had a go now and there may well be others keeping an eye on what is going on. It's all a bit of a game.
A strong hold for me. |
Thinking about it Elementis haven’t put a statement out, maybe that’s because they are in talks with someone else? |
Only 7 million shares traded, seems bod where correct to reject 160, if 160 was all they were worth half the company would have changed hands today imho dyor |
So Kleinmann was sort of correct, but computer says no |
The question is what price will they accept for a takeover |
where are the bods' for this billion pound outfit? |
Press Speculation Regarding Possible Offer for Elementis plc (“Elementis221;)

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., April 20, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Innospec Inc. (“InnospecR21;), a global speciality chemicals company, notes the recent speculation with regard to a potential offer for Elementis plc.
On 31 March 2021, an approach was made by Innospec to the Board of Elementis. This approach was rejected by the Board of Elementis on 9th April 2021 and Innospec subsequently ceased active consideration on 15th April 2021.
The approach sought the support of the Elementis Board for a possible all share offer of 160p per Elementis share with a maximum 50% cash alternative with mix and match facility.
As a result of the rejection, Innospec is no longer currently considering this acquisition.
Innospec believes the combination of the companies would have created benefits for both sets of shareholders given the compelling strategic fit.
The Proposal would have enabled Elementis shareholders to share in future value creation substantially beyond the headline offer price through significant anticipated synergies and an expected re-rating of the Elementis business to Innospec’s materially higher valuation multiple.
Innospec remains highly focused on delivering value for its own shareholders. Innospec will only pursue transactions which meet its investment criteria and where it is appropriate to do so, taking into account the importance of maintaining a prudent capital structure under current economic conditions.
This is a statement to which Rule 2.8 of the Code applies. |
They are in play now, 135 off one bidder 160 off another, soon someone’s going to get the nail on the head |
160p wasn't enough, so all good. |
Third time lucky then. |

Innospec offered 160p which was rejected by Elementis |
Sudden dive in share price sounds like elm are going to deny this. Oh well. |
I think just hold and be patient. Set up a trigger that alerts you when they release an RNS. Cheers |
IMO the stock market reaction tells the story here. The price is hovering around 155p which tells me there was likely an approach made (at less than the 200p quotes in the press...maybe around 165-170p?) which Elementis rejected and the market is now waiting to see if Inno will come back with another offer. There is no requirement for an announcement from either side and none looks forthcoming. If there is no new approach in the next few days the share price will slide back to around 140p. |
