11/5/2002 14:36 | I think too much negative comment is made about companies that drop from the FTSE 100.The trackers that follow the "100" have to sell, but the majority follow the all share so they generally don`t have to,maybe slightly adjust weightings. It`s all decided on the closing price on one particular day and I have seen companies dropped one day yet their share price goes up the following day.A lot of the adjustment is guess work in advance, so this could be the case with ECM`S recent performance. As for the company itself,it has a good reputation for reliability and fast service,it`s main rival in the UK being PFL. Both have been hit by the general down turn in the economy with manufacturers cutting back on spending on spare parts and this, IMO, is already reflected in their share prices.PFL having a lot bigger stake in the USA than ECM,who are doing quite well in other areas abroad. The last statement from ECM said their profits to the end of March will be in line with forcast, about 105m.The div. is about 16p a year, not bad for a 428p current share price.I would be very reluctant to short this one. | ![]() alared
11/5/2002 10:57 | I have not looked at this stock before, but IMHO it would be rather a dangerous short, as manufacturing particularly autos seems to have picked up recently (in relative terms). Clutching at straws, the 5 day volume balance is quite positive (I think that is the leftmost of the three arrows). RS Components is an industry leader and supplier of choice e.g. to the university where I work. | ![]() pat o hat
07/5/2002 15:54 | Electro Components is in trouble along with Logica (LOG) ...both to fall from FTSE in June. Only when they fall from the FTSE will institutions be permitted to dump in high volume. RNS Number:7392V Electrocomponents PLC 10 May 2002 Electrocomponents plc Electrocomponents plc will announce its preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2002 on 29 May 2002 and the Board of Directors will meet that morning for the purposes of declaring a dividend. | spikkymikky

10/3/2002 18:22 | Ageed,576p appears to be the resistance level for this stock,a break through this would suggest a 650p price target for year end. | ![]() alared
04/3/2002 11:46 | ECM price held up relatively well in the market slump and looks poised for a run up to 550 or higher. | ![]() superdealer
28/1/2002 09:28 | Agreed, it looks like the share scheme enabled these directors to get some cash in return for not exercising their options so effectively they were sellers at the then market price of approx 575, but they're now buyers at 490. | ![]() mog
26/1/2002 17:44 | As I understand it they let their options lapse at 529p because of a "tax technicality" and have now got the options at 423p.Short term I can see these shares trading in the 480p to 550p range, long term as things start to pick up,well above 600p. | ![]() alared
23/1/2002 20:34 | goin nowhere in short term poss short term selling opp ? | ![]() chapman123
10/1/2002 09:17 | Yesterdays announcement that Directors are not taking up their options which were at prices far lower than market price doesn't seem to show any faith in the prospects for the Company. I can't understand why the Directors would then say that they would buy shares in the market unless they expect a dramatic fall to levels lower than the options were priced at. Am I missing something? | ![]() t.ainscough
14/12/2001 17:08 | Does anybody out there hold this stock? For a top 100 company it hardly gets a mention on the boards.Anyone like to comment generally about this company? | ![]() alared |
