05/12/2004 23:18 | They originally recommended ELE at 5p. Two recent updates below and they reeeiterated as a strong buy last Friday. TWP dont have a a perfect record, who does, but ovrall I have made good money from their reccomendations. 11/02/2004 Electric Word close to profits Julian Turner, chief executive of specialist publisher Electric Word, is in a buoyant mood. His company, which specialises in the supply of subscription publications to the health, education and local government sector, is inching ever closer towards profitability. Sales in the year to November leapt 22% to £3m, operating cashflow was positive at £121,000, and, if you exclude new product development costs and other exceptional charges, a pre-tax profit of £93,991 was recorded. Add these back in and the pre-tax loss came to £418,000 ? below market expectations. Turner himself has taken a lot of pleasure from the fact that seven new products were launched during year and that Electric's attendant conference business now accounts for 22% of revenues. Equally important though is the fact that income from subscriptions accounted for 75% of revenues. Deferred revenues are currently running at £2.2m. At the back end of 2003 Electric snapped-up PFP Publishing, a supplier of nine different advice and management guides to those running schools, for £1.1m, thus strengthening its education division. According to Turner, all the sectors the company operates in are looking positive and he expects to launch at least two new titles this year. He is also hopeful that Electric Word will be able to hit break-even by the end of the year. Seymour Pierce have the group posting a profit of £20,000 in 2004 on revenues improved 50% to £4.6m. The shares have almost doubled from our 5p recommendation price in early 2002. They are not to be sold. 28/07/2004 Electric Word still a buy Financial highlights from the interim results: Turnover in the half-year to 31 May 2004 was up by 87 per cent to £2.35 million. This was helped by the addition of the PFP business in November 2003, but even like-for-like turnover grew by 43 per cent. Indeed, Electric Word's compound turnover growth over the first half of each of the four years of trading has been 73% per annum. Gross profits have taken a significant stride forward and are up by 52 per cent year-on-year to £876,000, of which the acquired PFP business contributed £180,000 at a gross margin of 32 per cent. As a result the pre-tax loss before amortisation of goodwill has been reduced to £134,000 and the business remains on course to meet market expectations at year end. We continue to rate the stock a buy. | hillbrown
05/12/2004 17:54 | on what basis have they decided it's a strong buy? TIA | bikersurv
05/12/2004 17:52 | Its not Nigel Wray Id be worried about..do remember Sylvester Stein, the retiring Director, holds 11%.At the age of 84 I dont think he will be holding onto the shares for long term growth....unless he transfers them to his grand kids.Quite a few attempts recently to talk the price up..wonder why :o) | nurdin
05/12/2004 17:35 | More bad news I'm afraid. The wrong price crew have just declared this a strong buy. TWP's recent track record is far from impressive. All we need now is investors chronic to make ELE one of their top tips of 2005, and we'll know we're all doomed. - See what they did for profile media. IC tipped as one of their shares of the year at 39p (yes thirty nine), now look at them. | dmhzx
03/11/2004 19:49 | still can't believe that Wray would invest in this company without some sort of plan/exit strategy. with share options at 5p something needs to happen for him to get any sort of return! might sell out soon through sheer boredom. | bikersurv
03/11/2004 16:59 | In which case, we are very nearly at selling time. Doh-Lacker are the Homer Simpsons of the business. Stainforth recently resigned without warning, year end changed for no apparant reason, losing money hand over fist, and run by Charlie Chaplin and Tweedledum & TweedleDee. Any company that chooses DohLacker in an advisory capacity has to have ( in my view) a big question mark against their own judgement. On the other hand, even though the Doh-nuts are losing money hand over fist, and their own share price is close to historical lows, they're still capitalised way above their entire turnover. If they can do that for ELE I won't complain too much just yet. | dmhzx
03/11/2004 14:57 | 150k delayed buy just shown up. Also quite a few buys y'day after market close. Maybe Durlacher are pushing ELE to their clients?? Thanks, ST. | shortermer1
01/11/2004 08:14 | Nigel Wray took a load of share options last year at 5p. it then drifted down from 10 p and has done damn all since then! God knows what his plans are but I wish he'd get on with it. | bikersurv
01/11/2004 08:05 | Thanks biker I went and had a look at the website. The change of nomad to durlacher pushed the share price forward. It looks like something might happen on the corporate front? | hybrasil
01/11/2004 07:58 | educational material for schools and colleges etc. | bikersurv
01/11/2004 07:32 | What does this co do? | hybrasil
10/10/2004 22:38 | what's gone wrong since July then? can you post the chart? thanks. | bikersurv
04/10/2004 18:52 | has Wray completely bombed with this one or am I missing something important? | bikersurv
14/8/2004 09:16 | anyone have any comments on the Interim Results? still showing a loss and what's in it for Mr Wray I wonder? the 5p PS Option won't give him enough to run his Bentley unless this company really starts motoring as well! | bikersurv
28/7/2004 08:57 | Ibought a load of these following the last results - Its good to see such a positive statement. Roll on a dividend | hybrasil
23/7/2004 17:48 | Oops, completely wrong share. - Nobody noticed | dmhzx
29/6/2004 11:11 | Anyone know whats caused the tick up today? Level 2 moved up pre market yet there have been no pre market buys. Maybe some delayed ones to show up later?? Thanks, ST | shortermer1
24/6/2004 19:24 | after months of no activity a miniscule move up! thought the company had gone to sleep! with share options at 5p Mr Wray seems to have made a big mistake with this one. | bikersurv
15/6/2004 13:20 | Looks like it's bounced back up. | balla |
