07/5/2009 10:05 | Good support coming in at 90p which gives confidence. | interceptor2
07/5/2009 08:27 | Onwards and Upwards. | chester
02/5/2009 17:42 | I just knew there was a big buyer out there. | cfro
02/5/2009 15:09 | Am not surprised. My calcs are that Turnover will grow by 40%+ this year to £30m+. The projected increase in PTP of 77% will arise because admin expenditure will not have to rise in line with turnover. With a further £4m+ of Free Cash Flow being generated this year the company will have £7m to fund growth and acquisition (which will be further earnings enhancing). | bookworm1
01/5/2009 14:34 | Wow - he really is going for it. | guru
01/5/2009 14:27 | They cant get enough of EDD, just released see below............ Mr Slater and Family now have a combined interest in 3,500,000 ordinary shares in the Company, which represents 6.078% of the issued share capital of the Company. | interceptor2
01/5/2009 12:20 | Stegrego Thanks for posting, the RNS slipped through my net. In my defence it was issued late in the day at 17:43 | interceptor2
01/5/2009 11:35 | i2 RNS above dated 30/4... Education Development International plc ("the Company") has been notified today, 30 April 2009, that Slater Investments Limited have purchased an additional 740,000 ordinary shares in the Company, this brings the total holding to 3,135,000 ordinary shares which represents 5.44% of the issued share capital of the Company. | stegrego
01/5/2009 09:15 | This looks very strong this morning, even a 100k sale at 09:32 failed to dent the price, it actually strenghened after the sale to it's highest price. | interceptor2
01/5/2009 06:43 | Stegrego - thats great news and should underpin the price at this level. I failed to spot the announcement, where did you find the information. | interceptor2
01/5/2009 05:50 | Largest holding at CF Octopus partner Fund ( Uk smaller companes ) | chester
30/4/2009 21:48 | Slater in for 700,000 more... | stegrego
30/4/2009 13:07 | Again, some decent volumes, 2 x 100,000 buys at the full price of 88p. | guru
29/4/2009 18:08 | I was just doing a back of the box calculation to see what price EDD could expect to be taken over at, given the same sort of valuation. When you realise that BPPs per for next year was flat, and 2010 was a very modest increase, you would have to use an EPS of 11p for EDD, which would give a price of £2.04. I think I will hang on to mine............ | interceptor2
29/4/2009 17:58 | 1.7 million shares traded today, I believe the reason is the bid approach for BPP Holding today from Apollo Group. BPP Holdings trains people for qualifications to become business professional, as accountants, tax practitioners, lawyers, insolvency practitioners, actuaries, financial services professionals, and marketing practitioners to gain qualifications studying with BPP. So not far away from the type of business as EDD. The bid was a £304.0 million cash offer at £6.20, which would value BPP at a P/E of 18.5, BPP share price jumped 70% from yesterdays closing price £3.65. I think you know where I'm coming from regarding EDD................. | interceptor2
29/4/2009 15:03 | very quiet here considering the share price is strong today on very large volumes. | guru
29/4/2009 14:41 | A lot of volume today for some reason. | guru
27/4/2009 16:52 | It's only to be expected after such a large increase, the same happened when EDD first hit 70p before it consolidated. Looks like pi's taking some profit as has happened elsewhere today. I noticed that Brewin Dolphin have a £1.00 price target now. | interceptor2
27/4/2009 15:38 | would have been surprising if this had maintained the whole of its gain on Friday without some profit taking. | melody9999
26/4/2009 08:52 | I was looking through the last results but I couldn't work out if they have used all the tax credits or might have some left. Corporation tax was charged at 15% for the year, which would mean a 28% charge for 2009, only a 13% increase. With the rate of growth being seen now, I don't think it will make a major difference. | interceptor2
25/4/2009 20:44 | Good call interceptor - Looks like the market is starting to agree with Jim Slater that this company should be valued on a prospective rating of about 12 time earnings. If you adjust next years profit down by 30% to remove the tax credit effect everything seems to fit. Giving a target price next year of 120p. | bookworm1
25/4/2009 20:18 | cfro Well done. You were spot on with your EPS prediction. Could be someone in the background mopping up shares, but I think they would be hard pressed to pick up any decent holdings. I think Jim Slater had been after a stake worth having, but had to wait for W Dore to sell first. Monday will be interesting, because if you are right we shouldn't see any retracement in the share price As I said earlier in the week I had a feeling the mm's were short of stock before the trading statement was released. | interceptor2
25/4/2009 19:05 | interceptor2 - I hadnt seen the two broker upgrades......and truely hadnt realised how close i was to Brewin's forecast ! ( refer to my above post 527 ). Yes the rise has everything to do with the trading statement, but there seems to me that there is a big buyer in the background. I could be wrong with my thinking....but why has there been institutional selling ie. Octopus which normally would make share price come down....But the share price is going the other way. Someone MUST be taking all the supply imo. | cfro
25/4/2009 18:02 | I have always suspected that EDD would be taken over at some point, but the jump in share price on Friday must surely be the second very positive trading update released on Friday. Also two brokers revised upwards there profit predictions by 25% for 2009 and by 35% for 2010. See below...... Brewin Dolphin = Buy 2009 pbit - £7.0m, eps 11.5p 2010 pbit - £8.1m, eps 10.1p Redmayne = Corp 2009 pbit - £7.1m, eps 11p 2010 pbit - ££8.0m, eps 10p | interceptor2 |
