lefrene, spot on again, amazing how the US has already paid out $350Bill with another $250 BILL going out very soon, but our shower of shyte Governement arent even talking about it until the 20TH absolutely disgusting, people are suffering out there, and our Gov does nothing !!

aljm, so many outfits go bust even in good times that nobody would trust waiting a month to get paid. I realised that most of my drivers had a time horizon of 10 days, some of my warehouse workers even less than that. The current situation must have huge numbers of low wage workers completely out of money by now, but you don't hear about that on the BBC!

tidy2, tick away all you like, Stobarts at this price might be a bargain, but they do not exist in a parallel world separate to the rest of the transport industry. When contracts come up for review there will be plenty of hungry competition to contend with, and given the scale of the economic mess, there are going to be a lot of hungry people for a long time.

aljm, indeed it's a week to week, hand to mouth industry.

I have a recollection of my accountant insisting that I see him about "something very important", he wouldn't tell me over the phone. Somewhat concerned I created time to go and see him that day. Looking terribly sagacious and full of his own wisdom, he informed me that I must pay my staff monthly! "The savings would be considerable"! "Well I wouldn't be paying you anything at all for a start", he received a very brief explanation of the realities of the industry. If they weren't paid on the Friday they would all be gone by Tuesday!
