19/1/2016 09:31 | O/T - Housing Yes Jamie, you're very right there, at least in south of Britain. There are a number of easy measures that could be taken to get prices down to a more sensible level which would also induce more or faster building. Making it easier for ft buyers to borrow even more definitely isn't one of them! That just pushes prices up further. How about taxing land ownership as soon as outline planning is granted - to stop developers sitting profitably on large land banks? Replace rate rebates for single occupancy with relocation grants for downsizing? Tax a proportion of the capital gain on under-occupied property when sold? ...etc. We have to replace the incentive to sit on property and do nothing (or under-utilise it) as being a way to easy profit. The perceived housing shortage might then be revealed as the partial myth that it is. Apologies for interrupting the flow of the thread! | boadicea
18/1/2016 18:16 | I'm 28 and I'm not buying a house. They're overvalued :) | jamielein
18/1/2016 17:42 | I often wonder where the next generation of stock-market investors will come from. Anyone in their 20s to mid-30s will have had an endless diet of property ramping. ...and you get days like today where, at the drop of a hat, your investment in ECK has lost 10% of its value. No explanation whatsoever. Hedgers/shorters ruling the roost. | septimus quaid
18/1/2016 16:53 | It's always difficult, in fact impossible, to know whether someone knows something important that is not generally available to the private investor, or whether the share price has just been dented for other reasons - like a large holder protecting a good profit in a shaky market. When it happens, as here, in a share with a good story that I am happy to hold more of I tend to view it as a chance to top-up. Like Jamie and Spookies (above) I hope that proves to be right! | boadicea
18/1/2016 16:32 | I topped up today too...hopefully the weakness is just due to market sentiment. | jamielein
18/1/2016 15:42 | Strange price action today. Dipped my toe in and bought some more. | spookies
18/1/2016 15:00 | well looking at the chart it's more likely to be the loss of a contract !!!! | oohrogerpalmer
14/1/2016 16:07 | I'm thinking another US contract (or few) must surely come soon. It's been about two months since the last announcement. The thing is - when...? | mazarin
23/12/2015 06:44 | Looking to be a repeat of last week. MM's looking for stock? | pc4900074200
22/12/2015 08:54 | And we got one! Hargreaves now have 22% | hybrasil
18/12/2015 08:54 | we are due an rns on holdings I would think | hybrasil
17/12/2015 20:29 | Typically in an overhang situation price will drift as someone offloads behind the scenes. When they're finished selling the MMs then print the trades for the total amount sold. If price rises after such large trades it's often a sign that the overhang has cleared i.e. there is no more selling pressure so any buying results in the price moving up. | tromso1
17/12/2015 14:42 | How can you tell? | tromso1
17/12/2015 14:39 | thats not an overhang | hybrasil
17/12/2015 11:56 | Overhang just cleared and price ready to bounce? | tromso1
17/12/2015 11:50 | could be interesting. Todays trade is the biggest I have seen in a long time | hybrasil
16/12/2015 08:05 | but a trading point will arrive if they get back to .35p | hybrasil
15/12/2015 17:13 | I note that ECK has been drifting lower lately from its 55p high. I suspect for want of Contract news that I'm confident will surely come but only for those who are prepared to wait patiently. | mazarin
01/12/2015 13:01 | It is a perfect fit for nuance.......... check their MC | greg the grinch
01/12/2015 11:09 | This is definitely not normal share movement for this share. Having held these for 15 years I would say someone is building a stake. The US deals that are in the pipeline make this a real company to watch. I would not be surprised if their partner in the US makes a bid for them. | reallyrich
30/11/2015 15:43 | Got some on the dip today. | jakleeds
28/11/2015 12:44 | Eckoh Plc is a gem of a company. It offers cutting edge security technology to a host of different sectors and this is and will be in huge demand in the UK, the USA and throughout the world. Eckoh has great products, a clear strategy developed by its capable management and the company will go from strength to strength. Eckoh is a winner and could attract a bid, at an attractive premium, in the future. The share price will do well whether or not Eckoh remains independent. I am enjoying the journey and I will remain on board. | scargs |
