Latest report here
Not much new - Emirates target having 30 A380s operating soon; other airlines are permanently retiring theirs. 'Soft' end-of-lease appraisal value of $50m per airframe sounds racy to me - but the appendix shows even after a 75% discount to that value there's still a potentially decent return from current share prices.

Saw article the other day in MSM which reported that the current resale value of A380s is ZERO.

seems there's a desire to resume A380s at slot-restricted hubs.

If you go to the pprune rumor board and then Middle East you would get an idea of when they will be in Service!

Emirates H2 figures just released
Doesn't give much of an outlook statement, other than anticipating steep recovery in demand once vaccine released. Talks of using 777s for freight.

It's not necessary for our planes to be converted, just that more A380's are flying. That stimulates demand for spares, worst case. More chance that when the leases end Emirates or some other carrier can see some profit in keeping the older planes in the air for passengers or freight, best case. As I previously posted if all airlines are strapped for cash which they presumably will be for many years to come the quickest way to balance the books is to avoid or at least delay new plane purchases.

Very interesting, thanks. It sounds a stop-gap measure as a proper freighter conversion had I thought been ruled out as structurally too difficult and not cost-effective. But 50 tons is similar to 500 passengers + bags, so not bad.
Actually volume has ended quite high today.

"Emirates has started using Airbus A380s as cargo planes to meet a surge in demand for transported goods while awaiting a recovery in passenger air travel."

I doubt our aircraft involved here, but it is positive news.

Interesting share price rise this week. Is it just the vaccine rotation effect (which has boosted most airlines) or is there news somewhere? Volume not especially high though.

It was - it's got a 20 yield and Emerities have just had $2bn of new equity I looked at this earlier in year - when you could make a decent return from the lease payments alone - couldn't get the tax to work as looked like was going to get taxed on the dividends - which is a tax on return of capital - so rather painful (my ISA/SIPPs are full)

Apparently there was a comment in Questor column of Telegraph yesterday, 22 Oct. Does anyone have the gist of this - I don't subscribe?

All reported today. Rise probably insider knowledge that confirmed dividend would be paid vs slight discount for risk that it wouldn't. Best news is that Emirates have confirmed A380 is profitable on at least some routes even under covid conditions.

Well we have another dividend in the bank - seems we can live only from qtr to qtr currently.

Interesting half yearly report
So Emirates have returned 10% of their A380s to some sort of service, though none of 'ours'. Essentially current share price reflects all future div payments and nil capital return , or some combination of a residual value and reduced divs.

Was puzzled by the small rise in share price earlier this week. Insider knowledge, or maybe one of the other DNA companies reported a couple of days earlier?

I also note that LGIM substantially reduced a few weeks ago.
