03/7/2016 11:38 | berfsy They were referring to the large number of companies that 'went wrong' in China last year that had floated on AIM to raise money. A lot of those companies especially in the mining sector then appeared to de-materialise. In some cases they couldnt even find the people they had lent the money to. It was all something of a fiasco, rather like the Wild Wild West, but on the opposite side if you get the drift. Basically a lot of dosh went missing. So now many people are somewhat cautious, though of course, the foolish will never learn and still go rushing in. | ![]() squiresquire
03/7/2016 08:51 | " Chinese lottery business ...mmm....Happy to steer clear" Have they not realised it's actually now a UK based tech company operating in the Chinese ecommerce sector backed at china governmental level, or have they missed that bit!! | bergsy
03/7/2016 00:28 | China opportunity Also in the news today is DJI Holdings (LSE: DJI). The provider of technology for the promotion and transaction of online bookings and mobile payments in China has announced a conditional placing to raise £29m through a number of major global institutional investors. The placing strengthens DJI’s balance sheet and should allow it to pursue a number of major strategic opportunities that are currently under discussion. In turn this has the scope to develop significant new revenues and to create substantial shareholder value. Looking ahead, DJI has considerable potential to benefit from China’s migration to mobile. It’s well-positioned within the world’s largest economy and evidence of this can be seen in DJI’s alliance with Xinhuatong, which was announced in April. This partnership positions DJI’s technology at the heart of a leading app for mobile payments and information. And due to other deals being possible over the medium term, DJI could be worth a closer look for less risk-averse investors seeking to diversify outside of the UK. | theclangers

02/7/2016 21:28 | My wife and i were in Vietnam a couple of years ago and we soon spotted the water buffalo having little egrets with them. they eat the ticks off the buffalo and when the buffalo is stirring up the muddy water they get little fish and frogs. But a man i asked told me the buffalo get to know the egrets and vise versa so strange egrets cant just come along and take over the buffalo, incredible how these things work. | ![]() squiresquire

02/7/2016 19:51 | nfs I totally agree with all you posted, Chinese love a good gamble. I have a bit more than i should probably in DJI, but i am in for two specific pieces of news then ime out. I hope nothing goes wrong in the time i am in, Your point of DM being strong is well put and i think very important, he has achieved far more than i would have thought possible, but i have myself experienced how jealousy is so strong and when you make a success how others lose face and get really inventive in their nastiness. At the end of the day we are still 'laowai' foreigners and consequently less serving in the eyes of some. Same as here i guess. Another big point in our favour is the very strong governmental connection DM has so cleverly built in. | ![]() squiresquire
02/7/2016 19:38 | Very sorry my mistake, it was in the Times, i get all the papers and was confused though how you all had so little wit to find it is quite beyond me. Article starts like this... Stock markets may have felt like a lottery over the past week but an AIM-quoted Chinese company that is all too familiar with the draw managed to raise money yesterday despite the volatility. DJI Holdings, a politically well-connected Cheshire-based technology company, placed 30.5 million shares at 95p each with institutional investors, raising £29 million. The fundraising, conducted through Mirabaud Securities, came a couple of months after DJI tapped the junior market for £10.5 million. The company is looking to strengthen its balance sheet after a year in which it suffered widening losses because of the suspension of online lottery sales… I shall leave you guys to find the rest, if you are capable. | ![]() squiresquire

02/7/2016 17:02 | No, never said they would spurn the income, merely that the on line lottery business is looking like it will be a small, modest but useful income stream as DJI move into other more lucrative areas. | ![]() the prophet

01/7/2016 13:30 | Spot on 11111broadview! I am truly amazed that anyone is selling here today, after the tremendous outlook statement. From the RNS yesterday: "DJI is in discussions with a number of significant partners and provinces in China and the Company looks forward to announcing these in the near future." The placing announced today is also crucial as it should now take the company forwards towards profitability; when that happens the figures will move fast and the big money will flow into the company. HUGE rewards are not far off IMO | ![]() topazfrenzy |
