Nortic I have no position .. I HAD a position ... a big one .. 4 and 5 years ago.

I stayed for the merger. I thought it made sense. Then got out as I posited
that the synergies of merger would not materialise and the risks grow.

And Hey presto....CPW news is now hurting the share price of the whole enterprise..

Undervalued why should they "bank some cash"?

They have a decent amount of cash on the balance sheet, still paying a dividend and I'm sure could reduce capex a little if needed for an interim period.

Your analysis on SPD recently has been overly bullish and almost puff like and your thoughts on DC. are overly bearish. Compare the two companies and from what I can see is that you're contradicting yourself. The 2 companies couldn't be more opposite.Just a observation.

So my question still stands. Would you rather be long or short here over the coming weeks ?

Short term going to be volatile that is certain .. and I am sure bulls and bears will make money provided neither buys too high or sells too low. However as Warren Buffet says:-

"Time is the friend of the wonderful business, the enemy of the mediocre.".

And long term unless this business can start to bank some cash from it £10billion turnover they are fxxxxd

meanwhile DC. walks on a razors edge with onerous bricks and mortar leases, minute margins and Amazon breathing down it's neck.

Also given the way that Apple deals with it's customers I think that the launch of iphone 8 IS a big risk for DC because they make their customers pay cash up front.

If things get any worse first warning sign will be that the dividend will be gone/decimated in flash.

Short term, DC. price will likely recover somewhat. For me the big risk event is October, when the European Council vote to decide if enough progress has been made in Brexit talks to move on to trade / other issues. If this does not go our way, and there is not really much indication that it will, it will give the pound another leg down, and put a squeeze on consumers and sentiment just as we enter the critical Xmas trading. So fundamentals, check, technicals, check, politics, er........

Re share purchases

Piffling amounts compared with director sales earlier in the year.

Window dressing.

Where is the cash ? Will someone tell me ?

(now waiting for someone to tell me that "cash is not important")
