I'm staying out. Minimum wage increases, business rates up, pound sterling weakness, consumers will eventually spend a lot less with rampant inflation. I can't see the point in buying a new iPhone 8 for £800, I could get a good gaming laptop for not much more. My Sony z3 compact still works fine and I won't upgrade for a good few years yet unless it breaks.

I've taken a small position as believe decent risk/reward following yesterday's positive statement and while there is no certainty of a bid materialising, from the us. I think downside now fairly limited given underlying mobile market & strong turnaround when apple launch iPhone 8 🚀

Day traders bailing out.

Can someone tell me where the cash is in this business.

I can't find any?

Net cash per share?

Net tangible asset value?

cash and cash equivalent as a % of assets?

retained cashflow?

looks parlous

What many are forgetting is the phone side of business is a minority in profit terms to the other income DC makes. Electricals is its engine, hence the merger years back made sense to consolidate both business. The phone business is challenging yet ever changing and that make it difficult to maintain constant forecasts. It all down to the products and prices. The phone brands need to change not DC.

Funny enough we were talking about this on the thread only a few months ago, people just don't upgrade like they used to and why should they my phone does everything I need is fast and none of the new features appeal to me and lets be honest they are hardly ground breaking. You can now get sim only for under a tenner with data.

Funny how the directors were bailing earlier this year (Seb sold £1m) couple that with the ominus "one offs" that were in last years figures and Seb only recently assuring everyone things were fine and you can understand shareholders feeling annoyed.

These things don't suddenly appear from nowhere I think long term holders have every right to feel let down.

Go into any store on Monday and you will see queues . These currys/pc world stores are still very busy and in many cases with the new format stores are increasing their business. People still enjoy visiting stores especially on public holidays . This is the reason that Amazon are looking into stores and presences rather than just online . I think this mornings drop was an over reaction and it will be back into £2.00 territory by the weekend.

Apple force retailers to buy stock up front as well - so the retailer is carrying a lot of stock - never good.

I would be cautious

Those that did not sell today and were at work when the DC. news broke may well sell tomorrow.

The traders are only in it for the deadcat bounce and will probably be out by the end of the day.

What one has to reflect on is that it is not exactly good news is it?

I know I am stretching out the life of my Galaxy S6 with a kiwibird battery case and and with an old galaxy S3 as a back up phone. I have a sim only contract for £12 a month with unlimited calls and texts and 4 gig of data.

Pay £7-800 for a new phone ??? Now why would I do that?

The general public is not as stupid as the mobile phone industry think they are...

As I said the takeaway is that this is structurally really not very good news.
