Well as always, two ways to look at it. Either desperate, or simply referencing - something ive yet to see a bull manage to do here

Its a good ol game though. If it was easy as a financials sheet valuation calc, we would all be billionaires

A simple example. You have figured out that a fund holding say 1.5%, has dumped 1% on Tuesday. A broker note comes out wednesday - target price raise...

Just means they want to dump the last .5% haha

So, the differences

We are trading public material. Re the past (even on day of releases)

They are not

Trick is, figure out what they are doing. Re not what those dealing in public number forecasts are.

Not going to printing those numbers in the press of course, or public reports. Anything but lol

Now if they have an aggregated asset value forecast at -40% in 6-12 months time, thats where its going. End of story.

There isnt a past financials number in the world going to change that

How many times have you seen great results? Great cashflows?

And from nearly a week later, all you see are investors scratching heads as the decline kicks in?

Its because they based the buy on perception, derived from lagging financials

At financials, you are looking back as they look ahead, in a different way

oh dear ...... value is derived from tangible assets, cashflows etc. not perception. The price is a reflection of net perceptions.

.......

At time of reporting, its lag. It is all perception upon release. And intangibles, well, cuckoo land for most

So you can get a report today , like cashflows yet a few funds will be thinking, well thats certainly not the case by numbers of today

Then you have to go deeper - 'The Game'

Well thats a whole different thing and i can assure you lot, you were set up here when DEC share price went up a bit only as gas fell

The shorters are going to have a big party

From a value perspective DEC is fine and why analysts quote a higher target price to the current share price - otherwise they could be sued by investors if not based on solid assumptions & terms. It is also why DEC will not go bust etc. and banks are happily lending them money.

You always want to buy shares with high value & low price if you are a value investor.

Old adage

'Nothing worse than being right in market, yet so so wrong in account'

i guess it means, what could have made somebody buy 1000p, is the reason it bounces 100p to 300p in the future lol

Now we can call it say, 50% below a perceived value market cap by numbers.

We can also say, a formula suggests it is 50% too high today.

It really depends on the formula used and there are many. Thats just for entity. Never mind variable considerations such as gas outlooks and infrastructure costs etc. Which is a whole different arena in a way, but some models of valuation will include such detail.

In essence, there are so many ways to evaluate value, it is countless. And you will get as many results on the neg side as positive side

So, who knows - just run with the controllers of share price today.

No i am not

Value is a perception derived from forecasts and results of yesterday and days to come. share price is a reflection of markets view on both, as of today.

Until market calls to align with your perception of value - the value you perceive is incorrect

value & price are completely different things. You are conflating the two terms.

"either bin your own thought and leave, or side with markets."

Obviously i mean real market. Not the market gerbils

When your thought does align, thats good

The net sum is, dont bother having a thought. Just run with market
