I tried to add at a quoted 83.35p in the dip at about 16:15ish but the trade failed.

Maybe that was fate telling me something but I tried again anyway and got a few at 83.8p.

At least it brings my average price down to about 102p. I'd prefer it in double digits but...

Oil weak again today, not as bad as yesterday though.

From the report published on 21 March, on an energy-equivalent basis, production in 2023 comprised 86% natural gas, 11% natural-gas liquids, and 3% oil.

Well I succumbed at 84.2p for a small top up to round up my holding.

Not much he can do at present apart from some additional stock buybacks (which I believe he will have to in order to be consistent). Probably more frustrated that market weakness may limit his appetite to acquire more assets. Although this company could operate and generate excellent returns from running down the current portfolio, it works better with constantly replenishing and growing assets. It is in a unique space for that strategy and now has the scale.Could possibly do a merger for a listing although difficult to see a potential candidate. At the current share price the most rewarding use of cash unfortunately is stock buy backs. either way it is currently dramatically undervalued.

I am more than puzzled by the company's inaction and just letting the share price collapse. It is down 42% in 10 months. Rusty firmly stated that the US listing would happen this year but isn't the prerequisite for that a strong market capitalization ?
Any views ?

>I swear the market seems to think DEC is an oil producer.

The company was called Diversified Oil and Gas and does produce a small amount of oil.

Crude got muntered today, down about 4%. Gas didn't move much.

Last time crude got whacked, DEC took a similar tumble.

I swear the market seems to think DEC is an oil producer, unbelievable but it would explain a lot...

Approaching buy-back prices. Makes sense not just for showing confidence but also a good use of free cash given the massive discrepancy between the share price and the underlying assets.

lab,

The gap at 86.95p was always going to get filled. Different interest rate outlooks for the US and the UK at the moment is probably going to result in a strengthening pound against the dollar, this will not help sentiment. I was going to increase an already large position but decided against it in favour of other not so high yielding shares that helped diversify my portfolio a bit. I am sure in time I will regret that decision as at these prices DEC has always been a gift in the past.

AA4 has its own thread

AA4 is an Investment Trust. Details here along with others in the aircraft leasing sector:-

I’ve held it for months and wish I had bought sooner as the share price is steadily rising. AND AA4 have twice increased the already very big dividend this year and with a good chance they will increase it again.

The main doubt, and that’s why the share is at a massive 66% discount to NAV, is about the terminal value of the planes they lease to Emirates and Thai airlines. But recent news on that has been encouraging with second hand prices being achieved getting higher.

It’s not without risk, but it’s well worth checking out….as are a lot of other very big dividend paying Investment Trusts. A lot of them are exceptionally good value and on big discounts to NAV. All can be found using the link above. E.g Commercial Property Sectors, both UK Commercial and Commercial Europe where EBOX looks at a stunning bargain price.

scrwal,

I am now a sophisticated investor! ;0)

What put me off with ii's questions before, was I wondered if I had to answer 100% 'yes' to all the questions or 'fail' the algo.

The answer is no: there were a couple where I couldn't say 'yes' in all honesty, to do with having traded in derivatives, calls/puts, hedge funds etc.

Of course, it didn't care, it's no doubt just a covering exercise for ii.

I bought a small amount of AA4, but if I'd done it when I first considered it back in winter I'd have been in at a better price point.

Of course, the price will pull back now but I have some dry powder for another buy if so.

cheers,

Cassini

I brought AA4 using HL without the hoop jumping, however the hoop jumping was required for DNA2 which is basically a similar airplane leasing share.

The hoop jumping is a piece of cake. I had no probs buying AA4 2 weeks ago - it's registered in Guernsey as a non cellular entity which is the norm , and it's quoted on the Specialist Fund Segment of the stock exchange.

It will be worth your while to do the hoop jumping as some corporate actions and their ilk can only be done as a "sophisticated investor" even if they are very simple - based on past experience with ii.

Energy has had a hard time across the board recently and investors have rotated out of it for hotter sectors.

A lot of money has flowed back into tech I believe.

This is one of those market rallies that conceals a bear market in certain sectors, we're just going to have to grin and bear it for some time.

We are being paid to wait, however.

I've not come across AA4 - a rising share price and double digit yield - what do they do - sell children?

I tried buying AA4 quite a while ago and got the dreaded ii 'Are you a sophisticated investor!?' dialogue box of doom.

I declined the hoop-jumping.

Apparently it's not an ordinary share, rather some kind of trust or suchlike...
