Far more likely retailers have no interest in the brand as their customers not interested.

I must confess to unloading DGE back in April (@ £36.70). Most were purchased around the £23 mark.

Not sure about new CEO.

Dividend ok but not brilliant (maybe they could stop buying back shares and increase the dividend).

Seems to have lost it's fizz.

If they hit £25, I'll start to build a position again.

Good luck all.

* alcohol causes DNA damage in a dose dependent manner, that's the scientific consensus. Whether warning labels will be widely adopted by other countries?, may be a considerably longer term prospect in places like the US. Diageo now offer several alcohol free spirits and Guinness 0.0.

Positive write up in the Questor Telegraph column today.

I was hoping to add more under £35.

As purely an income investor, the current yield on DGE of about 2.2% is too low for me. I like to add to my diversified income port where existing or new shares yield above the FTSE100. I've held DGE for decades and the long term income stream has been great, as has the capital growth though I don't invest for that, but I wouldn't add now.

Be nice to increase my holding but to fit my strat, the yield would have to rise to around 4%, implying a share price fall to 1,950p on the same divi, or alternatively a massive divi increase to about 142p without a matching share price rise. Neither of which are very likely at present.

DEO rather than DGE at a guess, but yes in terms of Berkshire it's tiny, it may be added to.

I think Berkshire were already invested in DGE and have increased their stake in the last quarter.

It's fair comment, DGE has though underperformed over the last 12 months so some of this may already be in the price.

Rising interest rates provide competition for equities such as DGE only fair to say.

Diageo shares tend to trade at a premium to competitors in periods of strong growth in the United States and at a discount in periods of slower growth, according to Jefferies. With the near-term growth prospects in the U.S. – accounting for 40% of Diageo's sales and about 50% of earnings – set to slow, the stock could end up paying the price."This reflects the normalization of industry growth after the pandemic supercycle, the risk of inventory realignment and the macroeconomic slowdown," analyst Edward Mundy and partner Andrei Andon-Ionita say. I have seen articles that Gen Z are drinking less booze per head than previous generations also with the squeeze on disposable income I suspect the older generations might be trading down from the premium brands - Make sense?
