06/6/2023 10:34 | Yes change is always viewed with suspicion. Walsh really made the company what it is today and Ivan carried on in the same vein | makinbuks
06/6/2023 10:26 | Really?, I remember when Ivan took over from the long serving Paul Walsh and there were mutterings about whether he was up to the job in the first year of his tenure, which corresponded with slowing growth. | essentialinvestor
06/6/2023 10:08 | The sentiment around Diageo is the worst I've seen for many many years. As a holder for nearly 40 years I will keep the faith | makinbuks

02/6/2023 12:34 | US jobs report much stronger than expected. Hopefully the new job starter's have celebratory drinks this weekend. | 1nf3rn0
02/6/2023 12:10 | I think that's a fair assessment. Short term could drop further (along with most stocks given the outlook) but long-term this is already a good price for undoubtedly one of the highest quality stocks listed in the UK. I'm waiting to add in volume if it drops as low as 3000, and will have another nibble in the 3200s. | 1nf3rn0
02/6/2023 11:26 | Had a listen to the brief intro given by the soon to be new CEO (currently COO) and some of the post presentation Q&A. From what I could discern, analysts are very focused on a short term slowdown in the US which is 40% of DGE total revenue by volume and 50% of total profitability - so tbf it is a very important region. The longer term growth case looks intact, DGE hold about a 4.5% share of total alcohol volume sold globally, so arguably have a very significant opportunity to grow, particularly with a move towards spirits consumption (away from beer and wine). Short term may be a little more bumpy, particularly with rising longer term rates providing increased competition for investor cash. DGE yields under 2.4%. | essentialinvestor
01/6/2023 11:22 | "Diageo Scotch presentation webcast this afternoon, but life is too short to spend 2 hrs watching that." Aye, time better spent drinking it not talking about it. | billy two cocks

31/5/2023 21:36 | Diddy says Diageo neglected his tequila due to race | philanderer
31/5/2023 16:13 | I must confess to unloading DGE back in April (@ £36.70). Most were purchased around the £23 mark. Not sure about new CEO. Dividend ok but not brilliant (maybe they could stop buying back shares and increase the dividend). Seems to have lost it's fizz. If they hit £25, I'll start to build a position again. Good luck all. 23/5/2023 11:14 | * alcohol causes DNA damage in a dose dependent manner, that's the scientific consensus. Whether warning labels will be widely adopted by other countries?, may be a considerably longer term prospect in places like the US. Diageo now offer several alcohol free spirits and Guinness 0.0. | essentialinvestor

19/5/2023 09:03 | As purely an income investor, the current yield on DGE of about 2.2% is too low for me. I like to add to my diversified income port where existing or new shares yield above the FTSE100. I've held DGE for decades and the long term income stream has been great, as has the capital growth though I don't invest for that, but I wouldn't add now. Be nice to increase my holding but to fit my strat, the yield would have to rise to around 4%, implying a share price fall to 1,950p on the same divi, or alternatively a massive divi increase to about 142p without a matching share price rise. Neither of which are very likely at present. | anhar
18/5/2023 17:47 | DEO rather than DGE at a guess, but yes in terms of Berkshire it's tiny, it may be added to. | essentialinvestor
