Have u checked the weather forecast in the UK for the next month? Its going to be colder than normal!

Try the Jetstream forecast as well. Northerly and easterly colder winds on the horizon and not much change for a month.

The consequences will be less desire to purchase Spring/Summer clothing, and forget the barbeques.

In fact things are that bad Debenhams have another mid season sale with up to 50% off



So John Lewis follows due to its "price match" guarantee



Margins are under tremendous pressure at the moment and will not get better any time soon. In fact they will probably get worse.

I wonder what the reason is for constant name changes.

I suspect there is more to this than is showing at this time.

Best defence is always attack.

Not a problem Simon you can always tell from style.

This is not a basket case and results may be better than.

We have identified cost savings of c £10m above previous guidance. Looking ahead, should the current
competitive and volatile environment continue into H2, FY2018 profit before tax is now likely to be in the range
of £55m to £65m.

QANTAS, please look at 3 posters on here recently,have a look at the postings the way these three string words ,some with links, sometimes symbols.
Here they are ,Simon templar QC, Simon Templar junior,debsdowner.
simon templar junior ,joined in nov 2017,look at the spaces in postings when Simon templar QC seemed to go missing.debsdowner seems to have appeared when Simon templar QC has disappeared .

I might not have been on here long but I have been watching this blog and other blogs on my neighbours computer for a long time .

I also agree with QANTAS post 4011 that Debs is the same person. and I think was formally known as Simon Templar QC.

The attitude and statements and links are the signs of the same poster .
post 4009 proves this .

It seems pretty clear that those of us invested here have made a mistake. It happens!

But at these levels I can't see any point selling unless you think Debenhams is not only going to go bust, but it's going to happen imminently. That seems unlikely to me, partly because of Ashley's involvement. He must be in close contact with the directors and have a fairly clear idea of what's really going on.

Chancellor Philip Hammond has unveiled upgraded projections for growth and predicted falling inflation and borrowing in his Spring Statement.
He claimed the UK economy had reached a turning point and there was "light at the end of the tunnel".

Debs shares have also reached a turning point and the share price will rise as I said earlier today.

So how is the bullish statement set to do wonders for bricks and mortar stores?

Business rates and minimum wage set to rise while real incomes are no better than pre financial crisis!

The average young guy cannot get on the housing ladder and will be paying high rents for the next 10 years.

Spring Statement: Why is the chancellor so upbeat about the economy?

hancellor Philip Hammond predicted a bright future for the UK in his first Spring Statement - but why was he in such an upbeat and jovial mood?

Well, Mr Hammond predicted a rise in growth in the short term, and a fall in inflation, borrowing and debt.

He told MPs: "We have made solid progress towards building an economy that works for everyone."

What did he say about borrowing?
Mr Hammond said borrowing was due to fall in each of the next few years, with the 2017 figure of 2.2% of GDP predicted to drop to 0.9% in 2022.

As a result, debt as a percentage of GDP is predicted to go down every year up to 2022 - the first sustained drop in 17 years.

"That is a turning point in this nation's recovery from the financial crisis a decade ago," said Mr Hammond. "There is light at the end of the tunnel."

The OBR says inflation will fall to 2% by the end of the year - in line with the Bank of England's target.

Visa figures yesterday point to a bleaker high St when looked at in detail..

"A breakdown of the Visa figures shows the extent to which Britons are tightening their belts. The amount spent on the physical high street fell 2.6% while households also cut back spending on recreation and culture by 6.1%."

French Connection still losing money and Marks sees no improvement on High Street.

"Losses at fashion retailer French Connection slimmed to £600,000 in the year to the end of January, an improvement of £3.1m on the previous year.
The company closed another 11 stores in the year but opened a new concept store in Manchester.
Stephen Marks, chief executive warned: "The retail market in which we are operating in the UK is unlikely to improve in the near future."
However he said he was confident the company would soon return to profitability.
Revenues climbed 0.5% to £154m."
