Empathy for anyone who is feeling grief here. I guess the fire in the head feeling is the grieving process, but from experience, it does go away. It just takes a couple of months, maybe less if you get out walking in the mountains every day. It’s horrible now but you will recover. (Just my non qualified personal opinion, not medical advice) Good luck.

I think you chaps posting derogatory things under your anonymous avatars should have a bit of empathy for those that have been wiped out.

Things I have learnt from this thread.

A chart like this rarely lies.

Shares are usually cheap for a reason.

Rampers will ramp till the last day.

Trust your instinct.

Never take what you read on a BB at face value.

Look at the sector not just the share.

Loads of comments on a BB is often a negative sign.

A share is never so low it cant fall further.

In fairness I knew a lot of that before but this thread confirms it.

Good luck all and hope you do well elsewhere.

Konrad - i read this accusation on here many times over on this thread. It is not true. I guess you'd call it an Urban Myth. I was in HoF this morning, here in Bristol, and it is pretty much the same clothes and perfume concessions, as before Ashley came in. So, No, it is not full of SD stuff.

CVC Capital Partners

Allegedly “Dead eyed blood sucking, soulless sharks” As quoted to me when they took over 15 years ago.

If you buy a company with high debt, that makes it risky. Add to that long lease
commitment then you have a powder keg. Then there is the net.

Add this all up and what have you got?

It appears good old Mike is filling his House of Fraser stores with Sports Direct goods.

Well there's a plan!

Fox, the people who bought the equity from the private equity folk did not have a gun to their heads.

The real villain of the piece here in my opinion is the private equity groups Texas Pacific, CVC Capital Partners and Merrill Lynch Global. They took this company into private ownership back in 2003. They sold off most of the freehold and loaded the company up with debt. It was then re-floated in 2006. Asset strippers Gordon Gecko would have been proud of. Anyone interested Google Debenhams private equity float. Corporate Britain? A poor man could get locked up for stealing a bottle of milk. A rich man can make millions out of shall we say dubious means...........

Shocking. It is, but what can you say?

People will always do daft things, just hope no one gets too hurt.
