Just while you are checking this page - are you against the practice of shorting your shares by shorters selling them while not actually owning them ?. Share price should be based on supply and demand. If you agree, please sign the petition :

BREAKING NEWS

Bucher gets the chop!

They say he is standing down but he is probably being pushed out by the creditors and a restructuring executive who understands distressed companies replace him.

Unbelievable the board refused to allow his dismissal before administration now they are he is going.

You couldn't make this lot up if you wanted to.

Dull and indebted says the Guardian and didn't we keep pointing this out but many just didn't listen..

fenner,

Then there was Bonmarch'e paying a high dividend now its recent losses placed it in the mire the largest shareholder offered to buy it out at less than the current share price.

Odey made about £30 million shorting Debenhams says the Mail:

Don't know how much Ashley actually lost but he must have lost a hell of a lot more, his stake was worth about £150 million at one stage.

debsd - agreed and LA is another I have read around and discarded.

LA has been on a downward spiral to being taken private by its largest shareholder IMHO and he's played a blinder so far.

According to a recent Mail Article it could take up to two years to deal with Debs but it looks like the group will be dismantled like I said yesterday and Madison De Nord the first to be sold.

All these things predicted by sophisticated investors like myself and niggle hopefully readers of bulletin boards will take notice in future albeit I don't have a lot of time to post on multiple threads I tend to concentrate on shares which are likely to have marked downside or upside. Sadly there aren't many of the latter in these markets.

fenner,

I think most investors will look at the yield but the higher the yield the higher the risk.

Although much smaller Laura Ashley had a high divided and it had to be chopped eventually.

Walker Greenbank one of the latest to cut its unsustainable yield.

I did not short here , Carillion or Interserve.
The links between the 3?
I was looking at all 3 for yield - they were high enough to attract my attention.
Then my research told me all was not well.
Read the boards found out some more, and saw some of the just plain wrong comments attempting to ramp the shares.
Then I felt I had to act to correct some untruths - like " Debenhams is profitable " when it lost nearly £half a billion.
However reading the RNS's really wound me up.
The actions and statements of the directors often seemed to be at odds with the interests of shareholders.

I can buy shares and keep an eye on them , usually they take care of themselves - since I am looking at advfn its easy to keep abreast of such issues as Debs.

If anyone saved any money because they thought twice - good.

Good afternoon robot debsdowner and knigel.

I think Ashley should take the legal route as they blocked him and created as false market in the shares to protect themselves.

It’s Usually Best to Just Say “No”
“The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.”

“You’ve gotta keep control of your time, and you can’t unless you say no. You can’t let people set your agenda in life.”

Follow your gut.

Please do your own research as always.

KNIGEL

One of the reasons I focused on Debenhams is I was once an investor and the company was of interest.

Believe it or not I actually like Department stores but I accept online has taken market share.

I took the view the company had lost its way and investors would be hit. I was right.

Its a sad affair but predictable by ODEY and a few more.

I class myself as a sophisticated investor albeit did not short this share I have my own reasons for this, I have mixed feelings on shorting it can push the share price down and make it impossible to get a rights issue off.

But one has to bear in mind a rights issue may not have helped Debs, the long leases were the death knell and the group needed a massive cut in its rent to survive and stores needed to close.

Sadly Debs had too many problems and although the company is owned by the creditors the problems still not sorted and wont be for weeks or months to come.

For those readers who think the creditors stuffed shareholders by wiping them out, bear in mind the creditors will probably lose out as well as they own a company still losing money and will probably have to write of much of what they are owed.

The debt burden gone up far more than it was 2 months ago having to take on more funding since.

My overall feelings are the company will have to bring forward significant store closures.

KNIDEL, so you are simply saying 'the management done it'.

Obviously the industry did its part as well.

If only poor old Mike had bought £150 million of the debt instead of the equity.
He would still have his circa 30% of the new equity.

Still doesn't explain why you focused on Debenhams Debsdowner - not that it matters now (my point being Debenhams is one of many retailers in trouble)
Pleased the company continues but it should never had come to this... If only a rights issue took place early 2018 and a CVA took place then perhaps the shares will still be listed. (as you say) The directors hopefully will be removed by the lender owners at a later date..
Btw why didn't you short the share?? You couldn't?
Hopefully answers will come out at a later date. MA has little chance of success going legal. May look in now and again but threads tend to go dormant a few weeks after delisting
