Posted at 09/4/2024 12:05 by highlands The vermin who infested this board have disappeared, with the share price above the original offer price and not that far of the second one.Their predictions of the share price sinking back to below 50p never happened, and they are the ones with eggs on their faces now! |
Posted at 16/3/2024 21:42 by pulsey To those saying "There is value here - just look at the turnover and the Balance Sheet"I own a couple of Businesses. If one of them invoiced the other £9.5B for 'services' and the other reciprocated with a £9.5B invoice, also for 'services' then hey presto. I'm the proud owner of two Billion Pound Businesses. OK, so net profit of £0 - but that's just Accountancy shenanigans, eh? (CURY Data from Stockopedia, only going back to 2018, hence choice of dates) Turnover ======== CURY turned over £10.5B in 2018, and each year it has dropped to get to 2023's £9.5B. Same turnover as either of my Businesses. Total Net profit in that time? *Negative* £700M. On paper I seem to be the better Business owner at £0 cumulative profit. -- "Ooh, but the Balance sheets shows Net Worth of £1.67 per share (£1.88B). That means a buyer should pay at least £1 surely?". B/S === Of that £1.88B Balance sheet valuation, £2.2B is actually Goodwill, not stuff you can pick up and hold and certainly not worth anything like that in a firesale. Strip away the Goodwill and the b/s would actually be negative. Then there is the negative £220M of Working Capital. Turnover is vanity Profit is sanity Cash is reality I see no Business case for purchasing CURY. Perhaps someone here that is more optimistic can counter, *backed up by facts*. There are plenty arguing the Bull case so someone must be willing to give it a go. |
Posted at 14/3/2024 16:34 by netcurtains Seriously, just because share price has fallen is meaningless...All that counts is - will there be a bid by monday 5pm by JD.com or not.... There is no winning or losing etc etc before that. Its all meaningless nonsense... Its a pure gamble.... JD.com share price up again today.... |
Posted at 14/3/2024 14:47 by schofi2 All the above bumph does nothing to clarify, but history gves a clue.Always happy to repeat. I'm not interested in a takeover not at the prices mentioned anyway. With Assets of £1.82BN that gives a price more than double the present, and with the future looking bright i'm looking into the future for a lot bigger rise. In 2008 around the financial collapse CURY was worth 30p 2 years later 180p a x6 gain 5 years later 273p a x9 gain 6 years later 461p a x15 gain, and went even higher later. The economy wasn't in really good shape then, but currys knows how to pull things around. I'm not saying that we will ever see these prices again but current prices are on the very low side historically. And the economy has had quite a big boost these last three months, especially for hard working and hard spending people. personally I would prefer to be in here for the long haul. DYOR and don't take much notice of the dogs. CURY made a profit of £119m last year, have net assets at least double the present value. (I can do boring repeats as well of REAL FACTS) |
Posted at 13/3/2024 20:15 by netcurtains Over the past month JD.com share price has risen between 20-25%.........If JD.com pulls out of a Curry 'deal' will this potentially have a negative affect on JD.com's share price? Answers on a postcard... 😀 (i can see the dates do not exactly overlap to the bid dates but they are within a day or so . Also the market cap of JD.com dwarfs Currys NEVERTHELESS Currys is a FTSE20 company with multibillion turnover so the bid is possibly/probably price sensitive for JD.com as well as Currys)..... |

Posted at 12/3/2024 00:23 by schofi2 Come on ramper lets show those who wear short shorts how much they'll loseCURY Price prediction in 3 years 5 years 7 years £1.50 £2.30 £3.50 Hang on, we don't need to ramp. The current assets are worth more than the first price shown. BOOM Who let the dogs out................ |
Posted at 11/3/2024 21:23 by premium beeks If you told a CURY shareholder on Jan 1st that the share price would be 60-70p in March, they'd be over the moon!Thats where it is today. No bid, no results out. Just a softening trading landscape and headwinds behind them. Anyone buying this company for less than a quid gets a real bargain, and Elliot knew it. |
Posted at 11/3/2024 10:40 by schofi2 I don't think a bid lower than £1.40 would have been acceptable to any contrarian investor. The share price is going to be much higher than that in a few years imho. Thats what I'm holding out for and I'm more than certain that it will happen. Currys is a great brand, always has been and always will be.And again I state that currys actually made a profit of £119m last year, and it won't be much less this year which isn't bad considering the political and economic climate in the UK. What CURY did last year was to reduce its goodwill to a more acceptable figure, a non cash impairment. Usually a good thing tax wise. If posters would like to explain that to the morons who constantly dish out false or misleading information, the following may help. Page 20 might also help in explaining the write down, but even this still leaves CURY with net assets of £1,892m |
Posted at 11/3/2024 00:54 by blackhorse23 I don't think share price will fall because market & brokers are saying it's massively undervalued share, should not drop below 80p. Added CURY has 9.6 billion revenues. Many shares in LSE lost value 50-80% then back up again. Eg Igr dropped to 45p then back up again 186p within 1 years |
