zico, More recently, I've also heard rumours there may be trouble ahead.

Following a conversation from earlier today I thought to look at the chart. There is a potential H&S pattern. It is currently unconfirmed. Confirmation is eod close below approx. 300, tp approx. 200

Next potential turn 22-23/5/2019

Worthy of a short for different reasons to Carillion and kier.

There are major redundancies being announced and turnover is falling. Very little visibility on future workload.

The pain of rotating towards consultancy will be severe.

Results are due soon, is it likely the market is expecting bad results and correcting the share price before they come out?

Cerrito - I think one of the problems is that COST is still seen as a 'navvy' business - tarmac laying and rail tamping - whereas it has been shifting itself to the tech end of things.

As an example Rail is their largest sector and at the interims they said: "We are aligning our business development activity with the changing spend patterns of our clients. As an example, Network Rail announced a 25% increase in spending to £47 billion in Control Period 6, commencing next year, but has also indicated that spending will be targeted towards asset enhancement and the 'Digital Railway' rather than large capital projects. This common client trend is having a direct impact on the nature and scope of contracts within our quality order book".

Have a look at the interim presentation slides:

At the moment I have no COST shares having sold out 12/18 months ago.
Trying to work out why it is at the 350p level.
I have read the rationale that KIER used for its rights issues- ie need to pay suppliers more quickly and banks withdrawing credit to the construction sector but for me COST has a good financial structure. COST not involved in the outsourcing sector.
Perhaps there are alot of people like me who are in a funk on the UK political situation/ Brexit that reluctant to take on pure UK risk.
Anyone have views?

Rlivsey The million Dollar question. One thing is pretty certain Cost and many other depleted shares will be higher in 3/4 years time. I am topping up all my fallen shares as long as nothing has materially changed for them. Normally I wouldn't but Brexit and the automated trading systems that account for 70% of trades are having a field day. Depends on your timeframe. You either need to trade very short term or very long. Dead in the middle.

My question is do I sell at a large loss or wait for potentially (likely) dropping further and then average down?

I think it is seen as just another infrastructure contractor, but it isn't - it has been increasing its work on the technological edge as witnessed by Wednesday's RNS-R.
