Solid progress, forecasts now slightly ahead for FY results, steady as she goes I guess.

Dividend reinstatement will be attractive.

Hey, ib, it's not intended that way. Good luck for tomorrow and beyond across the numerous stocks I see you posting on and hope our paths cross again shortly.

ib1905 #1283:

...[Cookson] has done little more than ftse over 6m and 1y..."

Six months ago ftse weekly low was 5111 and this week's low is 5794 (10%+). One year ago the FTSE weekly low was 4030 (40%+).

You are seeing things to simplistically. Within those time frames you may have "got on the bus" and off again many times: each time receiving 10%+ for your efforts. Look at the charts in more detail to see where your opportunities lie.

Whatever 'better be good in the morning or I'm off at the next bus stop' means I do not know! What are you expecting? A share price of 840p?? I suspect you are using small capital amounts and distorting the true worth of your gains....after charges and commission of course :-(

If the next bus stop is just 5% gain on your investment I think you should take solace - and show me a high street bank account that would deliver that in 12 months....let alone a calendar month (or less).

I guess you may read this and consider it arrogantly written: that isn't the intention and I apologise if it comes across that way. Time is short :->

Cheers, OTU

OTU - not sure I agree but I suppose it depends where you got on the bus? I see a share which has dropped 2.3% against ftse the day before results and which has done little more than ftse over 6m and 1y - and is -100% over 5yrs against ftse +40%. Not great and it better be good in the morning or I'm off at the next bus stop. No offence I hope - just differing perspectives. Why did I buy? because it looked like a better story than I am now thinking it is, I now think this is one you have to work the trends with and I am not good at that. Good luck anyhow.

Nice run up to IMS in the morning, especially since the FTSE is still having an off day.

My timing has been much better today, both here and elsewhere. Bottling the magic up is the next challenge lol.

Well I'm still 13 quid off a profit but ever hopeful - right direction and imminent news will help.

It's been a close shave since #1260 with a 10% s/l just 0.05 away from being triggered. Sometimes I despair at my timing!

There was a solid write up in The Sunday Times ('In the City' section) at the weekend and it appears the now due IMS is titilating the market.

Good stuff!

Thanks IB, Spreed betting is not too bad as long as you have a stop set up, my way is to go for the month away shares not their daily equivalent, that way you only make a loss(or gain) when you close or IG close because it has touched a stop or limit. The daily shares are closed every night, you can have auto roll over, but you still see the loss printed out and taken from your pot.

The bad part is the spreed between the buy and sell price, in Cksn's case it's 5p so if I open a buy(go long) then I'm immediately down £250 (at £50 a point) but as long as you buy when the price is really low (as Cksn was, but still went a lot lower after my buy)then a 5p rise is often in minutes.

The good part of S B is any gains are tax free and don't even have to go on your tax return.

Well RF , every day's a school day - I've only been at this a year and have made (and continue to make) all the mistakes I read about when preparing myself so no spread betting for me, yet at least. Sounds like you were relatively unscathed GL next time

My IG Cksn Dec was closed by IG, I kept increasing my stop until I was guaranteed about £300 after being down nearly a Grand and lowering my stop to 490p (potential £2k loss)

I went out and of course IG stopped me out when it spiked down and caught me, then went up to where I could have made £800, well mustn't be greedy, when I was down a grand I swore I would close if £5 in profit

Don't know about China effect but it seems that this was oversold last weekend against both the market and its sector performance and this nice bounce today reflects that and hopefully (that word again) the run up to solid results next week?!?

World's biggest bank rights issue announced today, China Construction Bank, will this effect Cksn share price as China's economy seems to effect Cksn so much?

So Hyper and Bar, will we at least get a dead cat bounce first thing Monday, or has this big adjustment got further to go?

P.S. Anyone found any weekend press on Cooksons?

I'm not sure, but I have been told many a time on these threads, that the MM's adjust their books on a Friday.

I just looked at previous days trades and you usually get get big trades after 4:30 for market adjustments.

The difference on Friday, post 4:30, was the much larger volume (And all day).

So why was there double the trades on Fri compared with a normal day???

Copied from ADVFN's Trades for CKSN (Sorry the columns don't line up but click on BOX "TRADES" T O Page, to see correct)

But you should see at end of Fri massive buys, are these the market makers buying back at 515p having sold in small quantities at up to 429p during afternoon

I needed the Andrex,I G opened the buy Dec Cksn at 530p (£50 a point)

Ended the day at 513.6 down £811.

Oh well Mondays another day, as long as I don't get closed out by IG at 507p (would then be well over a grand down)
