Purchase of assets: This is what they said on 26th November. Hardly moving fast....

Has CGO put itself up for Auction!!! The coal ministry said that the Centre's progressive policies have amounted in faster allocation of mines to the private sector and the upcoming auctions is likely to have participation of more new players. Bloomberg.The Union coal ministry on Monday said a total of 39 mines will be put on sale in the eighth round of commercial coal mines auction, which will be launched on Wednesday.

Mining giant Anglo American gained 3.06% after JPMorgan Cazenove reiterated its 'overweight' rating on its shares following the company's agreement to purchase a 77% stake in Teck Resources' metallurgical coal business, Elk Valley Resources, for $6.93bn.JPM said the acquisition underscores Anglo's discount to peers and opportunity to crystallise value."For Anglo American, although this likely removes Glencore as a potentially interested party in its met coal assets, it underscores our belief that further met coal mergers and acquisitions are likely if the steel sector views coking coal supply security as a critical long-term concern," the bank said."It also highlights a potential opportunity for Anglo American to crystallise value through further reducing its coal exposure, [having exited] thermal coal in 2021."

It is odd, in fact when a possible takeover is mooted, a flurry of RNS's usually follows as institutions react and tidy up their books.I know it's more complicated than that, but yes, the silence is very bizarre.

Over 2 weeks since the rns, and nothing from the company on the matter.Was it just a time-buying exercise for directors under pressure? Or jumping on the back of the Upland news to try and reignite interest? Nobody come forward, no additional information, no meaningful increase in trading volume which would be expected if the asset was going to be sold.Zzzzzzzzzz.
