346k vol and almost 19% rise
Can't see 888 whining about it now. As I have said this has always moved on little volume.

As Mark Twain said...history doesn't repeat itself but it often rhymes (sic)

No Andy, the AIM market wasn't around then and it was a real blessing.
There is a difference between a rights and a cheaper placing.Actually, old fashioned rights were invariably done on an X rights discount price of around 12%,a much bigger discount than a placing is usually done at.In other words, the fact that some stocks went to a premium to the issue price when the issue was done at such a marked discount, makes the fact more not less noteworthy.Whether the issue was on the main or AIM market isn't that relevant. If you're dealing with a junior explorer on the AIM market or a stock on the main market, things aren't that different, the market dynamics are the same.Short selling ahead of a placing and closing there after, can lead to a bounce etc.The key point is whether someone is prepared to pay over the issue price.
If you've ever been involved in a rights or placing, you'll know that the market is often gently primed ahead of a equity fund raising.Inside information is not illegal in itself only if that Intel is used to take an advantage and make an "unfair"profit. Thus larger holders will invariably be consulted "taken over the wall" ,as to whether an equity placing would be welcomed and at what sort of price.Unfortunately,it's often difficult to keep the process watertight.Make of that what you will when it comes to the scummy AIM market.

Those that have been around cnr will realise that PoG doesn't seem to effect us.

It will only effect us when sold. We know that MC has stated that he doesn't see that happening anytime soon

Interesting interview with Sam Walsh from Rio Tinto, alluding to they are keeping powder dry and looking for tier 1 assets to buy at this bottom of cycle stage. Also talking about how this stage in the cycle is a great time to develop potential mines.....

$1218 POG. if you think the price of gold doesn't matter then think again, RIO tinto looking at buying out small explorers and CNR will look very tasty...year end POG predicted to smash $3000!

steeplejack,

firstly you're referring back to a different era completely, so in my opinion it's not relevant to today, that was 30 years ago, times have changed.

Secondly you're referring to the main market, not the AIM market, which wasn't around then, and has a totally different rule book.

Thirdly, you're comparing rights issues for large corporations with placings for AIM listed speculative junior mining stocks, they are not the same thing at all!

You are not using "case law" because you are not comparing apples with apples.

I can hark back to any number of historical precedents if I feel they're illustrative.Isn't a lawyer allowed to use case law in pleading his case.
