16/11/2012 14:34 | Investor's Chronicle tip this morning. Making the grade: how to spot mining winners Find the best projects before the rest of the herd with our 10-step guide to evaluating early-stage mineral deposits. ... Condor Gold (CNR) Nicaragua-focused Condor Gold took the Alternative Investment Market by storm this summer with a near 150 per cent share price rise from July to September. Drilling on its 100 per cent-owned La India gold project returned some remarkable high-grade gold intersections, including 12.2 metres averaging 35 grams gold per tonne starting from a down-hole depth of 173 metres. Indeed, the drilling helped propel total resources at the project to 2.37m ounces averaging a stellar 4.6 grams gold, with about 1m ounces located in an potential open pit and 1.4m ounces better exploited via underground mining. Condor began another 7,000-metre drill program in November using three rigs, looking to prove up ounces inbetween and along strike of existing open-pit zones. A preliminary economic assessment for the project is also currently under way. Last IC view: None. Condor Gold - Key Criteria The Big Picture Epithermal gold-silver vein deposit, with two large but narrow veins demonstrating good continuity Grade Very high, averaging 4.7 grams per tonne gold-equivalent Size Still small to mid-sized, but growing quickly Metallurgy Early results suggest good recoveries of over 90 per cent using a combination of gravity concentration followed by cyanidation Waste vs Ore No definitive data as of yet, but analysts from Edison say the topography of the area supports low stripping ratios for open pits Location Major paved highway and power line runs through the project area Politics and permitting Fairly mining-friendly Stakeholders Artisanal mining hotspot but haven't heard of any problems so far Management Heavy on the financial experience but seems very competent so far Financing Good access to markets, just raised £4.2m from institutional investors | drradcliffe

15/11/2012 08:27 | Thanks SG - good spot! - I don't usually monitor stochastics, but I do check RSI for entry points, and that tells a similar story Our last big leg up came just after RSI (14) drifted down to 50. The current RSI is just a smidge above 50. I'm already quite heavy here but, armed with that chart info, am contemplating a top-up. | lombiff
15/11/2012 08:10 | Now that is interesting SG.Two swallows don't necessarily make a summer but those last two bounces with similar 'shapes' do seem to suggest a big bounce is on the cards.Well spotted!! | panamabob2

13/11/2012 08:46 | I like this whole passage. Analysts reckon La India has the potential to expand to 5 million ounces, which would make truly world class. 'We are de-risking the project all the time,' said Child. 'We are now doing the studies to show it is economic. It is all well and good having a large resource, but it has to be economic. 'But we won't lose sight of the fact that we are expanding the size of the resource too it is a big gold field. 'La India Project is probably a five million ounce gold resource. It is a balancing act of increasing the size and doing the studies that prove you have a large commercial mine.' | psolomons
12/11/2012 23:15 | Good find Melli ....Followers of the sector know a resource above 2 million ounces puts the companies such as Condor on the radar screen of some the industry's biggest players. A figure of 5 million is likely to have them salivating......... | pillion

11/11/2012 19:01 | I think Sunjammer is right, the buyer will only pay for resource that is shown to be present. If CNR is taken over when it's got a N143-101 resource estimate for 3M oz, that's all we'll get paid for. Tom Garagan talked about this in his pitch at the Denver Gold Group meeting 6 weeks back. He said they don't pay for potential, and I'm sure they are not unusual in this. Personally, I believe Mark will prove up a little over 5M oz on La India. I think what will affect the valuation - beyond the headline 5M number - is the production economics of the whole project. If the cash cost is around $75 less than Libertad or Limon are getting now, then I'm confident about a good result for all CNR shareholders. (Perhaps nearer to some of the more reasoned analysis on the LSE board.) We might not get to this point on La India until next year when we have more drill data for the La India/California pit. It sounds like the America/Guapinol pit might end up having better economics because of the grades obtained on America/Constancia by Noranda Mines in the past. I'm not sure how big the Mestiza pit will turn out to be. The 2007 Triton N143-101 resource on the Tatiana vein makes it look very promising. | drradcliffe |
