I think you owe Nectarios an apology for that Carwhite - for all that you may feel bitterness towards some at CFE, Nectarios certainly isn't one of them - he is what he is - a thoroughly decent bloke who has lost money in this investment like so many others.

Mmmm bit strange he or she obviously think they know me, I can assure you they don't! Oh well it takes all sorts I guess. I look forward to the follow up comment which I will not be wasting time replying to. Only posted my previous comment as I just got the feeling Nectarios was a genuinely nice guy. Few and far between these days as the follow up post showed. Thanks and good luck with your investments.

Only ever posted on here once before to say I was no longer going to read the posts due to all the bickering. Truth is I found it hard not to and so have still followed the story. Some time ago I also lost money on this share but was perhaps fortunate in the end.
Nectarious I do not know if you look in here anymore but just wanted to say I enjoyed reading your posts and regardless of the rights and wrongs to the best of my knowledge you were always respectful to others and I wish you the very, very best of luck for the future.

I said I wasn't going to post again but I was amused by this comment posted this evening.

"Coffee Republic PLC rose 22.00 pence after Coffee shop chain has been bought out of administration by property firm Arab Investment Ltd."

If only.....

Its a pity Barty did not recognise his deficiencies from day one.

Doing that needed bigger heads than one little guy from Plymouth...!"

But then I guess you need some kind of brain to figure out what you do with the following ingredients.

A cup, some sugar, some milk, some coffee and may be a bun or two. oh yes and a spoon.

Coffee House news update 30th July

Coffee Republic, under the new owners Arab Investments, will now rise to become globally enormous – and we have that from the guy who very nearly put the brand on that road. Steven 'Barty' Bartlett, the shareholder who unseated the original founder in a bid to turn Coffee Republic around, has told us that he believes the new owners can succeed in developing the name. "You watch it now," he told us, "these guys really are going to turn it into a global brand. Doing that needed bigger heads than one little guy from Plymouth...!"

We had hoped to bring you some more detailed information about the purchase of Coffee Republic, but apart from all the usual statements about 'being delighted', Arab Investments are staying very determinedly quiet on the subject. Their only other comment is that they intend to commit 'substantial capital' into developing Coffee Republic, 'with immediate effect'. KPMG, the receivers, have said that they are pleased to 'have rescued a substantial part of the business and protected 62 jobs', but everybody is avoiding any questions about the next management set-up. And although Fiona Hamilton, the business recovery partner at property consultants King Sturge has said that the deal is 'the UK's largest coffee acquisition', the company refuses to say just how big the purchase was.

The successful bid turns out to have been a surprise – it is believed that 120 possible buyers were in the frame, and nobody expected what is thought to have been a fairly last-minute move from Arab Investments. Many franchisees had already grouped together to back another bid from the existing management.

Steven Bartlett has remarked to us that he might stay in the coffee trade, a business which he arrived in quite by accident – it was being turned down for a Coffee Republic franchise that started him on the road to taking the company over and turning it towards survival. "I'm up for a challenge, so long as I don't have to live in London again," said the businessman from Plymouth. "But this is a market with a very fragile success rate... so I think what I may well do now is write a follow-up to Anyone Can Do It" (the best-selling book from the brother-and-sister team who formed Coffee Republic), "entitled Anyone Can't Do It – How to Avoid the Car Crash !"
