08/7/2009 10:57 | And you would know comrade wouldn't you? How is that? | winning_streak
08/7/2009 10:52 | "negotiations" probably been done prior to suspension imo. Far too quick this - has to be though before any proper investigations are done. | winning_streak
08/7/2009 10:49 | CRD If you can renegotiate the head leases on the underperforming shops to make them profitable and buy the business as going concern this would make good sense - then you get to keep all the tax losses. I bet there has been some fast and furious negotiation at present - this would be attractive to a larger concern as they could then utilise the losses brought forward. This is only ever viable if the head leases can be sorted, else you'll be left with a load of lame ducks. | pigboy

08/7/2009 07:57 | KPMG Restructuring, administrator to Coffee Republic, is planning to complete the sale of the coffee bar and deli chain by the end of next week. Richard Hill of KPMG said he hoped to sell the brand, the company-operated outlets and the franchise operation. "The phone has been ringing from interested parties, including some well-known names," he said, with the most interest coming from existing coffee bar operators. The deadline for expressing an interest has been set for Monday. A preferred buyer should be chosen by Wednesday, followed by completion on Friday. Shares in Coffee Republic were suspended on Aim on Friday "pending clarification of the financial position of certain subsidiaries". Yesterday the administrators were appointed to three of the operating subsidiaries, covering a total of 187 UK and overseas outlets and franchises. The first Coffee Republic was opened in London's South Molton Street by Bobby Hashemi and his sister in 1995. After floating on Aim, it attracted attention from figures such as Stelios Haji-Ioannou of EasyJet and Julian Richer of Richer Sounds, and was looked at by Benjys, the sandwich retailer, and Caffè Nero. Mr Hashemi rejected Caffè Nero's £10m indicative offer as too low. Mr Hashemi, who still owns a 2 per cent stake, was ousted from the board in 2006 after a shareholder revolt. What goes around, comes around - he used these boards to his own advantage - now let them become his disadvantage and pdq!! | winning_streak
