Hi bones...are you able to sell in decent quantity now? There appears to be plenty available to buy (15k). I can now sell 2k I have in one account which I couldn't last few days and judging by trades the Bid appears to be strengthening so things could be on the turn.

Ignore the quotes. Currently can sell at 395 and buy at 397. Suggests some jostling for position.

Encouraging, if brief, update for the AGM today. I am sure the modest fanfare will yield to a much stronger performance as the FY22 period progresses.

bones ,

I think it is best not to attend. I have always found them helpful on the few occasions I have phoned them with a question.

The decision to dispose of Hyperstone and to concentrate on 5G represents a step change in the business. They do come across as being very confident about this course of action.

Roddiemac2, thank you for the information. I think (for this year) it is best not to go to the AGM.

I read enough in the detailed commentary by the board in the final results RNS to make me believe the management is bullish about prospects in the five years ahead. Certainly they seemed marginally more chipper than at the time of the capital distribution.

bones,

Up till two years ago I attended the AGMs. On several occasions I was the only investor there , apart from management and family. They do not give a presentation at the AGM. It is something of a formality , with the chance to talk with management after the voting is over.

I will collect a printed copy of the annual report tomorrow or Monday and see what they say about attending the meeting.

Do you have any specific questions about the business going forward? I spoke to Nigel at the time they announced the return of capital. He said this year would be tough, but that they had new products coming to market next year: no more than that.

Not wishing to debate the fact that the ex-div date is 29th, merely that it's not tomorrow ;)

Surely pre-market open on 29th?

Happy to debate, gleach23!

“…..Accordingly, the Board is recommending a final special dividend payment of 50p per ordinary 5p share, equating to a total for the year of 52p (2020: 4p). If approved this will be paid to shareholders on 13 August 2021 whose names appear on the register at close of business 30 July 2021, the shares will go ex-dividend on 29 July 2021.”

Is that pre-market open or post-market close?

Thursday bones - getting ahead of yourself :)

Funnily enough I made a note of it myself this morning.

Ex-div for the 50p special dividend kicks in tomorrow (29th July).

Watch for the markdown!

Trade stats showing strong bidding above midprice all day. Despite a good number of round number sales, even now I can sell a large amount online at 461p. Seems to be ongoing demand for shares on that basis.

It is worth another read through the commentaries by Nigel Clark and Chris Gurry, main directors of CML, in the recent final results release.

Every time I study the comments, I see an ever increasing seam of bullishness emerging. The positivity in there and the barely disguised expectations of profitable expansion for the next five years is notable for a usually conservative board. They have clearly felt justified in the path they set themselves with the sale of Hyperstone and the acquisition of PRFI, both realised in 2020.

CML is my third largest holding now but it currently occupies first place in my sense of what good things could be developing over the next two years.

I agree roddiemac2. The outlook of the board and the unlimited scope of the markets before them mean that they must just concentrate on proficient execution. I don’t have a timeline on it but the first sign of solid growth from their new markets will have this share way ahead of here, IMO.

There has been many a slip twixt cup and lip in the past. Anyone taking advantage of the fall to 33.5p in 2009 , and holding for the long term, has already made a fortune. ( the real money is invariably made in the long term ).

I see absolutely no reason to top lop here. Unless the share price gets pumped up first, I would be surprised to see much of a retrace from here. I suspect they are tightly held now. That , plus the large spread will make them a difficult repeat trade. The AIM listing may improve liquidity and narrow the spread; we will see; a very strong hold for me , and I have a large holding.

Linton, since the 433p was achieved earlier this year, CML has paid out 50p per share in a capital return which reduced its cash balance by £8M+. Arguably, today’s price of 452p is the equivalent of 502p so far as holders are concerned as they have 50p in the pocket as well as their 452p shares.

577 next resistance on the weekly chart after busting through 433 won’t go up in a straight line but I actually see this worth a lot more I’d buy the dips on cml

Per this article from Proactive Investors, an unambiguous view of CML’s prospects from one of the house brokers, Shore Capital:

”Analyst Martin O’Sullivan at the company's joint broker Shore Capital said: "Despite recent outperformance, we regard the current market value as unduly low relative to earnings and prospects (and the final special dividend). Broadening recognition of CML’s strategy, growth opportunity and financial asset backing should provide scope for a material rerating, in our view."
