Will look to add more here, future earnings potential looks good, certainly from 121p , and always a chance cmc gets taken out at a premium by someone.

I too thought the results were rather good, especially given where the company has been the last year. As i bought some shares today on the back of the results i am immediately underwater.
We will have to see what happens around the Aussie regulations and how burdensome they are or not as the case may be. The company has, however, already intimated that revenues will be around £170m for the full year which would give eps of around 16p.

Perhaps something was said at the investor presentation that upset people. Strange reaction though. Hipefully an opportunity.

Yep, they were good figures, maybe partly because of a relatively thin market, like to see this go private again!

Bought in this morning.

Good results which if extrapolated to the full year would make them good value, still have the Australian regulation to consider so best to proceed with some caution.

Plus500 just released their numbers. On all metrics IGG and Plus500 look in a much better shape than CMC.

@marcus - I use them but never use stop losses (only small positions), because, as you say they purposely move the prices to close you out at your stop loss then move the price back.

The results was already reflected in the share price. They didn't make a loss, they generated cash although the market conditions were horrible due this new regulations.the debts is very low. I think they are reacting quickly so that is a positive things. This is why I think the drop was not bad.

So bad final results led to a rising share price. How strange! Not the first time I've seen that happen. Let's see if there are any broker upgrades or downgrades as they are the only thing that will move this share price in the short-term.

Given tangible asset value is worth £200m and current market cap is less than £260m, I very much doubt that.

I sold some of my holding yesterday afternoon at 90p and bought it back this morning at 85.5p. I was hoping it would sink a bit lower than it did but a pleasing outcome all the same.

There wasn't much in the outlook but they did say that they are in line with expectations which gives a PTP for 2020 of £29m, putting it on a PE of 9x and only 2x when adjusting for asset value (mostly cash or equivalents). I agree that this is a strong bid target.

I don't get why this stock is rising - what's the catalyst. I bailed out at 79p (with a loss) when I saw that a hedge fund had taken a short position.
