In a way I’m surprised CMC has not received any takeover interest, with Cruddas owning so much of the company he would likely consider serious offers of intent. For the time being their focus has been to shift somewhat in to non-leveraged business, but they still have a strong platform for CFD’s and Spreadbets. They must have a had a pretty good Q1, T/S in July will explain more.

Agree, I've made good profits here but it just seems to have lost support so I shifted into igg & fres.

I hope to be back, IF things ever pick up.

Yes you're probably right, they should be making money, but still see much better value in IGG and PLUS. Better companies in my view and cheaper - not sure why I would want to own CMC as well, although if anyone can make a good case for CMC would certainly consider.

This must be making money in this environment, the final quarter of the financial year was the strongest, and this likely to have continued with the volatility recently within all markets. That is likely to continue while inflation remains stubbornly high, and with geo-political issues globally.

Treasuries yields of all durations fell significantly so the market seems to think they are maybe overdoing it a bit. When central bankers overdo things, financial derivatives and dodgy business models start to explode.

Gilts yields are all over the place in the last week. 2-year yield is down 0.14% today. That's a big move but not unsual by the standards of the last few days which have been big and mostly up. Will punters trade gilts on margin? I don't know - but the big rate fluctutations of late have implications for other areas, anyway. VIX is still high at 32.5.

VIX now back up to 32.5 so the Q2 rolling 3-month average looks like being the highest since Covid hit. We're into the normally quiet summer period so will traders be at desks, though? It should be a good Q1 update, anyway.

UK 2-year gilt yield is +0.15% to 1.99%. That's an exceptionally large jump.

It has more to run, but £3k is a nice profit. Was risky in that bear raid yesterday.
